The Chicago Shooting Range Is Open from 2100 to 0900 Hours

No more shooting in Chicago begins at 0900 hours and ends at 2100 hours.

We are now scheduling when a gang shooting is acceptable and when it is not acceptable. Not being able to read an analog watch will not be an allowable defense in the unlawful discharge of a firearm.

If you are considering getting even, or avenging any slight, no matter how small, or how large, please observe the new 12-hour rule.

If you are in the habit of Uber hijacking, remember no trigger pulling until 9 p.m. and no trigger pulling after 9 a.m. This might be the solution to Chicago’s lead overdose problem. They’ve tried everything else except prosecuting felons with firearms.

Problem solved.

Good grief. Just when you think the authorities couldn’t make more ridiculous decisions, they make this one. So sad.

Is this supposed to be a joke?

Because if it is, it’s not funny.

And if it isn’t, I gotta wonder what planet the people pushing it are from.

    It’s first cousins to NYC’s gun-free zones:

Don’t have to worry one bit in Times Square any more.   There is a sign that says so.

As you can imagine after receiving a second education on the streets as a line cop my sense of humor is a bit skewed.

This 9 to 9 is a proposal, and it’s a desperate proposal. My empathy is reserved for the families that have lost children in an out-of-control city.

There is no desire from the new mayor, or the States Attorney Office in Chicago, or the current governor of Illinois to prosecute gang members in Chicago. I have nothing but contempt for them.

Doug, did you get this from Second City Cop? I saw it on there last evening.

Remember, kids. If you pop someone before 9:00 PM, you’ll get in so much trouble!

No, I saw this on Fox News. By the way thanks for the heads up I didn’t know they were back. You made my day!

It seems like we used to be a serious country, brave and bold and ambitious, rising to lead the whole world because of our virtue. Proud to be an American, as the song goes.

Somehow we let all that slip away. We are now a silly, ridiculous place.

Except for those of us hangers-on here at Ricochet. And maybe still Lee Greenwood, I suppose. If he hasn’t transitioned or something by now.

And yet, the native people still vote for weak on crime candidates.

I am not clear on who introduced this, who is promoting this, and what, if any, involvement the city or the police have with it.

If this is some kind of citizen rah-rah appeal to gang members who have kids to rethink their timing then, I suppose there are worse efforts that have been made.

If the city is coming up with this nonsense, then I’m with the op even more than usual.

Here is the bit I read.

I’ve only read on this once, but I think this is it; it was a group of small organizations and social activists.

As a lad I read cowboy stories, like the one about Dodge City where, North of a particular line, the carrying of firearms was prohibited while gunplay was less restricted on the other side.  This seems to me to be a similar effort.

Brandon has spent his entire career insisting that The Man must do this and The Man must do that for social justice. Now he’s The Man and he can’t do anything at all. Crime is through the roof, violence is up everywhere, the Magnificent Mile is only about 800 yards long, and it’s all going to hell. These little neighborhood organizations see that and are trying to fill the gap with … happy thoughts. That isn’t going to do anything to end the war between the Gangster Disciples and the Black P Stone Nation.

What they need are more cops, well trained and effectively led. They’ve spent the last two years denigrating the cops they have, coming up with ridiculous “rules of engagement,” and refusing to prosecute the criminals that they do catch.

Hey, they’re setting an example for all the criminals, with the ones they catch and release. It just might not be the one they should be setting.

    Here is possible solution:

Police in Democrat-Run Oakland Urge Residents to Use Airhorns if Targeted by Criminals

    Colt Releases New Airhorn Modification For AR-15 Guns · Aug 10, 2023 · BabylonBee.com

U.S. — Amid a surge of crime in California and local California police advising citizens to carry air horns to protect themselves from violent crime, Colt Manufacturing has announced a new attachment for their popular AR-15 firearm: the tactical air horn.

And prosecutors willing to prosecute criminals.  You can have a thoroughly competent police force but if the prosecutors decline to prosecute the people who are arrested, the crime wave will roll on.

It demoralizes and demotivates the cops if the only result of making an arrest is the paperwork they have to complete.
