San Antonio has fired its sixth poet laureate “after posting a poem that included a Spanish word that is considered a racial slur.” (The term is “mayate” – it took me a while to find it as most articles would not quote it.)
It’s probably small of me to get so much schadenfreude from these sort of conflicts, but it’s inevitable when racial grievance mongers are in the driver’s seat.
I just realized that I unintentionally expanded my intersectionality crash idea, but it’s completely fitting. Since being the most offended makes one the winner in the grievance Olympics (I guess I am mixing my metaphors — or is it analogies?), it had to happen. Anyway, I find it delicious.
