A Walk in the Woods with Winston, the Greatest Boston Terrier Pup in the World!

Count Your Blessings!

We live in those “interesting times” which constituted the ancient Chinese curse, immersed in some of the most vitriolic and mean-spirited divisiveness our country has ever seen. I thought it might be a pleasant change of pace to follow the lead of one of my colleagues on Ricochet.com (H/T to @rushbabe49 !) who created a post out of photos from a walk in a forest preserve near her home in Washington State.

So, off I went this morning with my pup Winston to take a stroll in the nature preserve literally a few feet from our home here in the Florida Panhandle. This trail, these woods, this “Walden Pond”, are all as far as one can get from the mayhem by which so many of our citizens are assaulted every day of their life and I am so overwhelmed with a sense of deep gratitude that we live in this place that I wanted to share it with my friends. I hope you enjoy our stroll as much as Winston and I did!

Let’s Go, Pop!

I’m no Thoreau, but this is our Walden Pond!

Not to get too ethereal, and with a full realization that nothing like this will ever happen in our current society, but wouldn’t life be so much better if those shouting at each other and calling it “civilized” dialogue would take a stroll in the woods, down the street, on the beach, up the hiking trail on the nearest hill? The question answers itself, doesn’t it?

Happy Memorial Day Weekend, and

God Bless America

Is there any problem 30 minutes in the woods can’t improve?!?!?

My son spends all of his spare time in the woods filming whatever wildlife he might find. This is the quote he put in his yearbook . . .

I don’t have any forest nearby, but the cats and birds help a lot.

I’m also blessed to live in area with nature trails within walking distance of where I live. I love this time of year when I can use them.
