Sometimes It Takes a Good Guy with a … Slingshot?

We’ve heard that adage about a good guy with a gun stopping a bad guy with a gun. How about a kid with a slingshot stopping his sister’s would-be kidnapper? Take a read:

Michigan State Police said in a news release that the 8-year-old girl was in her backyard when the alleged assailant came out of the woods, grabbed her and covered her mouth. Authorities said the girl’s brother, 13, hit the alleged attacker in the head and chest using a slingshot.

Police later arrested the 17-year-old based on another family member’s description of the suspect. Authorities also said the teenager had visible wounds from the slingshot.

No word if the state legislature will introduce a bill to ban slingshots . . .

“If you ban slingshots, only criminals will have slingshots.”

On a serious note: I suspect the success of the slingshot was due in large part to the youth of the offender. Sadly, I am uncertain whether the killer of Polly Klaas would have been deterred.

Many forget that the shepherd boy David used a sword as a follow-up to the slingshot.

Ah, but have you seen what a sling bullet will do to a human head at the right distance if launched by an experienced slingman? About the same thing a .357 would do. The beheading was a formality.

Correction: About the same thing a .44 magnum would do.

Goliath was stone dead at that point. Cutting off his head was David’s version of a sack dance.

I don’t know. It would be hard to make your escape if you were being chased through the woods by a thirteen-year-old with a slingshot raising hell the whole way.

Imagine the kind of gun that kid could buy if he started a GoFundMe.

David was smart.  Goliath, being larger and stronger, would have been too tough to take on with a sword in a melee.  Therefore, he resorted to a ranged weapon . . .

I always play David when I go PvP in Street Fighter 950 BC.

My friend had a hunting slingshot when we were kids – that thing would put a hurt on you if you were hit

I made one for myself when I was fifteen. It had a wrist brace and everything. The powers-that-wanna-be would probably classify it as an assault slingshot.

4+ year wait to purchase the long guns.

7+ year wait to purchase any handguns.
