The Consequences of Lying to Girls
My son attends a prep school. It is liberal, but not quite as liberal as the two neighboring girls’ schools. There is a rivalry between the schools, only slightly complicated by the fact that the girls’ schools have some students who think they are boys.
The girls at one school, which happens to play dodgeball competitively within the school, decided to organize a tri-school contest. Challenging the boys. They were certain they were going to win. They marched out with great pomp and splendor. Teams were set at 20 girls to 16 boys.
Of course, they were destroyed. From the very beginning, when the lines rushed for balls, the girls decided not to sprint full tilt at the 220+ pound ogres who were coming right at them. Even my son, who is not only white but Jewish, and thus embarrassingly awful at ball games, went 2-0.
Which leaves us with a question: do girls really believe the nonsense in the movies and shows, where toothpick-sized girls routinely knock out 250-pound men? It seems that they do.
I find it amazing that upper-crust, highly educated 18-year-old girls can ignore all data to the contrary, and believe that they are going to win a game of dodgeball against 18-year-old boys. I hope the result was educational.

Nope, it was “unfair,” possibly “illegal.”
I do not. People believe in stories. Data doesn’t move them in the same way stories do. Scientists and autistic people are an exception.
Predictable results. I hope no one was injured. That is a another consequence of this fallacy.
FIFY
It seems we no longer have scientists that believe in data.
I think 2 generations (post internet and pervasive ness of computer games and CGI ) of young people have lived in a substantially not-real “zone” in which they have not suffered much in the way of discomfort (they are rarely in situations where they can be hurt, hurt) or inconvenienced. As a result, they and now their children have a truly distorted view of what’s real. So – yes, they think the Viking women fought along side their hunky men with 50lb broad swords for hours and days. And that they are fast and lithe and strong and healthy while having no real muscles at all. And that no one has to work hard to become and stay fast and strong.
Now a note from the dog world of competition: our 2 1/2 yr old boy simply creams our 1 yr old girl on the flat. No contest. In the forest tho, he can’t keep up with her twists and turns and leaps over the obstacles. She has the wile and the drive to sneak attack and pushes him ahead to get to where she can ambush him. The almost daily run goes around a couple of fields through the woods and she leads him on to her zone. The high school girls have forgotten or not learned any wiles of their own.
They don’t think they NEED any developed skills or anything so common, they’re being taught that they are superior just by being female, if they’re able to define what that is…
The shades of Sid Luckman and Sandy Koufax are giving you such a look, iWe.
I’m not 100% sure but I think they really do believe it. Crazy. I’m all for women trying to excel at endeavors but physical realities need to be instilled.
Hey, an aside. Your comment about Jewish boys and ball playing had me thinking. I’ve mentioned before I live in an Orthodox Jewish/Hasidic neighborhood. The Jewish boys do play baseball here. I don’t know how widespread it is among the families but those that do play are pretty passionate about it. Perhaps it’s mostly the Orthodox and not the Hasidic that play. I’m not sure. Another thought. There’s a particular block on the way to my mother’s house (same neighborhood, within a half mile) where there must be some fifty children on that one block. I have to be careful driving through that block because the kids are always in the street playing. The girls (younger than ten I would guess) have this game with a volleyball type ball that they play with and they are very energetic and argumentative over. I get a kick watching them as I slowly drive through. But it’s only the girls. The boys I guess are on their bicycles or something. This doesn’t have really to do with your post but I thought you might enjoy it.
I’ve had this video pop up a few times, supposedly at random, but maybe it was a message to pass it along?
You’re projecting. I hope.
I’m sure.
With the government funding them for believing in (bad) stories, why care about data anymore?
I was reading one of Monckton’s pamphlets last night. AGW is definitely one of the inflections on the way to our fall.
Is it wrong that I’d like to see a video of this?
Consider just the spectrum of the big gender lie. They let a male powerlifter compete with the strong women, and still imagine grrlpower rulz.
Cut to the video.
Great post, iWe.
I have a story from Bret Weinstein as another example. For those of you who might not know or recall, Weinstein is a “professor in exile” after a Wokeist outbreak at Evergreen State College in Washington state some years ago. He has a podcast, the Dark Horse Podcast, available on YouTube, along with his wife, also a former professor, Heather Heying.
In any event, they are both biology professors, and I recall Weinstein telling a story about teaching sexual dimorphism to a class at Evergreen, and making the statement that men are generally taller than women. He reported that the class disagreed, and just wouldn’t believe it.
He had the class line up, tallest to shortest. With very little overlap, the guys were the tallest and the gals were the shortest.
Duh. The average height of women in the US is a bit under 5’4″, and the average height of men in the US is a bit over 5’9″. Somehow, these college kids had failed to notice a five inch difference in the average height of men and women, for their entire lives.
Now having said that, I’m not sure that it’s true. It’s perfectly possible that all of these kids noticed the height difference. They might not be stupid, or unobservant. To the contrary, they may be bright and observant, and may have noticed that the feminist narrative of Equality (!) is so politically and socially powerful that one must not, under any circumstances, acknowledge any differences between men and women.
No, it’s not wrong. There’s nothing in the Bible about dodgeball. :)
If you find one, please send it to me.
Why?
#5 son just added useful detail: The boys team played (and won) 4 games: 1 against each school, and then against the combined girls’ schools twice. It was not close. But what is surprising is that the girls genuinely thought they would win.
And Hank Greenberg.
32 boys signed up (formed 2 teams), and 20 girls from each school. All the rules, umps, etc came from one of the girls’ schools.
Meh. We Jews have a contribution to make to this world. Playing sports is not it.
What makes me nuts is that my two youngest boys are sports-crazy. They play baseball and football every free moment they get, and one is convinced that he is going to make it to the NFL. I haven’t the foggiest idea where he got his pigheaded ambition and refusal to submit to the wise guidance of experts.
Did he describe their reaction to this revelation?
Was it acceptance, or did they insist the class must be unrepresentative?
Because they believe boys and girls are equal.
Duh.
Wish I could – it’s something else. I can only do one, maybe 2, things at a time. Carrying a phone is 1 too many after the field whistle (to bring them back when they meet up with new friends and cavort) and treats (to reward when them come back….) He lives to run and she lives to torment him. I kind of actually like running now because he is filled with joy of it. We are lucky there is a close park/hiking/conservation area they can be off leash and run flat out and running doesn’t hurt like pavement. Vizsla is an amazing breed. Too smart for their own good.
We no longer have scientists that believe in data being presented publicly. Only priests of blessed, politically obedient Scientism are to be allowed to face cameras and win awards.
Everybody’s got their talents to share.
Oh, and I’m a dope. Sandy is still with us.
Projecting what exactly?
I didn’t know that was a thing either. We didn’t have a lot of Jews in OK when I was growing up, but I do remember asking my dad if Jim Thorpe was such a great athlete, why weren’t there more Indians in pro sports.
