Inspiring Others by Fixing Problems…

Eric Ritchens died last year at the age of 39, leaving his wife, Kouri, and three young sons.  The sons naturally struggled with their father’s death, so their grieving mother wrote a children’s book which taught kids about how to handle losses in life.  She has appeared on TV as a tragic figure, talking about helping children with grief, and promoting her book, which is available on Amazon for $14.99.  This inspiring story became more complex yesterday when Kouri was arrested for allegedly poisoning her husband.  It appears that she may not have been an innocent bystander in the events that made her famous.

As soon as he was elected, President Biden began preventing oil companies from drilling for oil, transporting oil via pipelines, and exploring for more oil.  Fuel prices have skyrocketed.  He has since said that increased fuel prices are a tragedy for American families, and he expects the oil companies to fix this tragic problem.  Although it appears that he may not have been an innocent bystander in the events he claims to want to fix.

Eh, heck with it.  I wanted to write a clever post comparing these with other Democrat policies like climate change and racial tensions.  But for some reason, now I’m in a bad mood and don’t feel like writing.  If anyone feels like finishing this post for me, feel free.  It’s pretty clear where I was going with this.  I don’t want to think about this – whatever – I need some bourbon…

Though he’s been a bystander to everything in “his” administration, I’m not charitable enough to tack “innocent” onto that.

It’s ok if Democrats don’t fix problems.

I’d be thrilled if just stopped creating them.

The definition of chutzpah is to kill your parents and then ask the judge to have mercy on you for being an orphan.

If I were the government and I looked across this country and saw people working or going to school, heating and cooling their homes affordably, driving their cars to wherever they wanted to, getting good food at the grocery store and local restaurants or from their own backyard gardens, and getting good care at their local emergency room, I’d be thrilled and I wouldn’t do anything to disrupt their lives. Instead, I’d be working to help more people enjoy a nice middle-class life.

I don’t understand the Democrats. I really don’t. I have nothing in common with them. All I care about is that people can live a decent life.

These are indeed the times when a shot of  bourbon makes perfect sense.

The inmates have been running the asylum so long that many people think this is normal.

    Beautifully stated.

I wonder if there isn’t imbedded in our culture a certain mindset.  College students, researchers, and others are taught to find a problem, assemble some facts, and pose a solution.  The incentives favor finding new problems, perhaps even where there are none.  Whether or not the solutions work is another matter.

We are all familiar with the “Imposter Syndrome.”  Perhaps there is an “Inspector Syndrome.”

Are you saying that the contractors offering free roof inspections after hailstorms might have ulterior motives?

My suggestion, instead of bourbon, is to go to a concert. If that’s not possible, listen to great music. I went to a live performance of Rhapsody in Blue over the weekend and it was phenomenal. No recordings were permitted, but here it is from the pros: https://youtu.be/cH2PH0auTUU
