Egad! Late Night TV Is Being Struck!

The 2007 writer’s strike was something that bothered me.  At that time, there were a number of television shows I enjoyed, that I cared about, such as Lost, Heroes, Chuck, My Name is Earl, and The Office. The strike impacted those shows, it really killed Heroes after its one good season, the first.

Now there is a single fictional series I watch, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and it has completed production. Now I watch movies and old series, and sports. So the strike brings me no pain.

But it does bring me a little delight in the shows it will impact, for instance, Saturday Night Live. I loved the show as a teen, when the show swung back and forth between horrible and awful through the years. But it’s been a solid decade since there was any wonderful on that show.

But the strike is on, so they won’t be able to bring those hysterical jokes about Trump this Saturday night. (To be fair, I’m sure it wasn’t just going to be about Trump. There probably have been some hard-hitting piece about Clarence Thomas getting uppity.)

But there’s more! Seth Myers Live! and Stephen Colbert Stays Up Late and Jimmy Kimmel Defends the Blot and Real Time with John Oliver and Fake Time with Bill Maher and The Diurnal Show will all be impacted by the strike.

This is so very troublesome.

How will people know about the latest fascist activity of Ron DeSantis and how they should feel about it?

How will people know that Joe Biden is utterly cool and Hunter is deep-down not a bad guy?

How will they remember that 1/6 was the worst day in history and only Antifa saved us from the Holocaust of the alphabet community?

Worrisome stuff, you must admit.

Oh, but for what it’s worth, the strike won’t impact Gutfeld!

FWIW

“Where’s the pageantry, where’s the style?”

It annoyed me that he couldn’t roll with the punches when the ovens broke down and there were guests to cook for. Carson is the Rock of Gibraltar in many ways. It’s good to have a man you can rely on to maintain order and tradition through thick and through thin, but his one major failing is the inability to adapt when circumstances change. The Democrats have brought social changes to this country way too fast, and we need a Carson who will slow it down and determine whether all the changes are sensible.

Carson was great!  What a voice, too.  I also had a strange liking for Thomas Barrow, despite his obvious character flaws.  A great thing about the writing was that nobody was 100% good-guy nor 100% bad-guy.
