“Warszawo, walcz”

“Warsaw, Fight!” The call to fight that was heard in Warsaw on August 1, 1944. Poland did not have a collaborationist government when Poland was occupied by Nazi Germany.

The Warsaw Uprising was the largest single battle by resistance fighters against the German occupiers in Europe. There were two battles in Warsaw. The Jewish Warsaw Ghetto Uprising began on April 19, 1943. This was the single largest revolt by Jews during WWII.

I display my flag on April 19, and on August 1 to honor those who fought to free themselves from tyranny.

Poland is preparing for war. Poland will soon have the largest army in Western Europe. They are starting to spend 4% of their GDP on defense spending. The last Russian troops to occupy Poland, 45,000 of them began leaving Poland on April 8, 1991, and ended in September 1993.

The Polish people know that Russians are occupiers, not liberators. Polish armored forces will be larger than those of France, the UK, and Germany combined. Poland will become the pivotal European nation in the NATO alliance.

They take Putin seriously and those who speak for Putin in Russia. When they hear voices from Moscow say they will push back the borders of Poland they believe that day may come, and they will fight if it does.

It is so encouraging to see a European country take Russia’s invasion of Ukraine seriously. Poland remembers only too well what Russia has done, and likely will do.

If you follow the logic of the “NATO caused Russia to invade Ukraine” folk, then Poland arming itself will cause Russia to invade Poland.

The Poles are already planing a large increase in their army- a good move since the Kremlin mouthpieces are already threatening genocide against Poland. Of course, that is a pipe dream since they have a little problem on their hands in Ukraine at the moment-ie their army is being ground to powder. No one can be sure who will win the war-but the Russian army will be among the losers(not to mention all the Russian soldiers sent as cannon fodder).

I wonder why the European nations are so united in helping Ukraine- maybe this rhetoric has something to do with it? Why is it that the European’s who know Russia the best, help Ukraine the most? Like the Baltic states?

I came to Poland many years ago because of an interest in their history, which has turned to a love of their history. So kudos, Doug, for pointing out both uprisings. You’d be surprised how many confuse the two. Due to my background, I’ve been fortunate enough to play a large role in helping Poland build their capabilities as well as help them support Ukraine, which is more than even mentioned in the media. I am indescribably proud of that! 🇵🇱

Keep up the good work in Poland @chrishutch13. Let your Polish friends know there is someone in the Pacific Northwest that displays the Stars and Stripes for Poland once in a while.

And that began in the Russian Katyn Forest massacres in their pact with Nazi Germany.
