DeSantis Gets It: Destroy Woke Business
#BREAKING: Gov. Ron DeSantis' administration is revoking the Hyatt Regency Miami's alcohol license for hosting a "sexually explicit show with children present"
The venue hosted "A Drag Queen Christmas" on Dec. 27, 2022

DeSantis is the only Republican I’ve seen willing to make the private sector feel pain for their push of what is contrary to our values and history as a nation. These are the same businesses that push the most extreme sexual harassment policies amongst adults. If you tell an inappropriate joke that someone finds offensive, you’re canned. If you’re having a private conversation with a work buddy about the assets of a female you find appealing and some third party overhears it who doesn’t like it, you’re ruined. And then these same businesses will turn around and have men display their fetishes in front of CHILDREN and parade around them showing off their assets while being sexually explicit. But don’t dare make a double entendre at work around other ADULTS. That’s a step too far.
The entire atmosphere and culture that big business in this country pushes is sick and twisted. Corporate America is full of hustlers and degenerates who rig the market. They take advantage of slave labor overseas. They take advantage of child labor within our borders when they aren’t sending gay degenerate men to gyrate and dance in front of them. It is about time at least one Republican started fighting back.
There was a quote from a former president that went something like we are a country that has a government not a government that has a country. Well, we are a nation that has an economy not an economy that has a nation. We don’t and never should have bent all of our policy to what the major players in the economy claim to need. They’re just as corrupt as the government. And it is time they were told that the customer is always right. And the customer doesn’t want any more of their poison injected into our culture. And the customer has every right to deem them worthless and use their power to the full to smash them the same way big business uses their power to the full to smash competition and dissent.
Big business sure respects those sensibilities of the other parts of the world. They don’t push their woke crap elsewhere. They don’t want to offend their customers. Why are they so intent on offending their customers here in the US when they don’t dare do it overseas? If they’re so principled then they should push their values and not want the business of those who do not share the same principles, but they don’t. So, I take nothing they do as acting on principle or sincerity. And I demand to be just as respected as an American as they show to the average Middle Easterner by not pushing transgenderism or gay drag shows for kids on them the way they do on us. And if big business won’t give me the same respect and the tens of millions of us who find all of this mental illness abhorrent then they deserve to pay the price, and it should be heavy. The beauty of the free market is we don’t need any of these companies. Others will and can buy their assets and take their places.

DeSantis is showing other Republicans how to fight and win.
A sexually explicit show with children present? Shouldn’t someone(s) go to jail for that? Revoking their liquor license sounds like something Joe Biden would do. (And then let them have it back as soon as the media has moved on.)
How about something more like this?
Happy with this sort of move. I have been for it.
The Hyatt is blaming a third party for the content of the drag show. Regardless, I wonder how long it is going to be before Governor avoirdupoids chimes in on behalf of his family empire. Or his ego.
Evil. Right out in the open. For Christmas. That slope sure got slippery fast.
I support charges for the organizers and participators. But it’s also good to handicap a business and scalp them to let everyone see what will happen if they continue this course of action. They all should feel the pain.
Suffice it to say that RDS is unlikely to be invited to the next WEF Bacchanalia in Davos, unlike some other Republican governors.
Indeed, the mystery of RDS — why other Republican governors are not emulating his model — ceases to be a mystery if you recognize that the Republican party is mostly the other side of the corporatist duopoly coin.
It’s a “blessing of liberty,” don’t cha know. Liberty allows queer communist radicals to expose children to pornography AND allows church groups to use public buildings*.
And the good news is, the same guy who told us that kiddie drag shows were a “blessing of liberty” now says that child sexual mutilation is likewise.
* After long, arduous, and exceedingly expensive litigation.
From what I’ve read, the Hyatt was warned beforehand of the consequences. The hotel allowed the performance to happen anyway.
Big Corporate America is no better than Big Corporate media nowadays. They have gone all-in on the DEI/ESG woke garbage, trying to outrace each other into the accolades for being the ‘wokest’. Sad. Good on Governor DeSantis. Again.
This is the same reasoning progressives use to try to punish businesses that hold/promote positions that they deem “on the wrong side of history”. Unless laws are being broken the government has zero business pushing “values” of any kind on the private sector. None. If laws are being broken however then there is legal ground to fine or punish the lawbreaker.
For some reason, your comment brought this to mind:
This is the libertarian mental illness in action on display. It ends up allowing the most progressive and insane decay of our way of life because government never acting is always way better than whatever is going on. Sexually explicit shows in front of children is just other people’s values. The left would make the same argument and be totally against any resistance to it but impotent whining. The libertarian movement and ideology is an enemy and this kind of crap needs to be scuttled. It has ruined the right.
The problem of course, is that the other side is already using the government against us. Some people seem to think the answer to that is surrender/unilateral disarmament.
The best way to handle it is do not bail out woke businesses – SVB should have died a normal death. Without this reality, poor fiscal decisions like we saw in the sub-prime mortgage debacle and the woke banking debacle of today will never be seen as the root of the problem. Until it hurts, those in charge will make the same mistakes
Yeah I thought that was one of the primary and important differences between right and left. We don’t (didn’t?) view the government as a weapon to wield against our opponents.
The left is using it as a weapon against the right. What do you suggest we do that will actually work to protect ourselves and our liberties? Because I for one am tired of hearing (essentially), “Wow, the Left are such hypocrites! Can you imagine if conservatives did this?”
It shouldn’t be. One side chooses to use a gun and the other refuses. There’s no principle in that. Government is only as good as who’s running it like a gun is only as good as who is wielding it.
So your answer when the left does something improper/unconstitutional is to do it also? That is how children rationalize bad behavior. “HE DID IT FIRST!” There are some things that are going to be against the value system of a conservative that are not for a progressive. That’s just the way it is. There are constitutional and legal protections in place to protect from the weaponization of the government against the private sector. I believe congress currently has a committee studying the topic right now. What I’s saying is the answer when someone else does something wrong is not to do it as well to “even the playing field”. No, we should do our best to stop the incorrect behavior. Doing it as well will make it even less likely to stop.
If it’s unconstitutional it wouldn’t be happening if the constitution in fact works.
The private sector weaponizes government against the private sector all the time. They push for all kinds of barriers to entry against their competition and special favors. Nothing about them is sacred.
And yes if a corporation is harming the public good the public can determine they don’t want them doing business. Corporate status is allowed and granted by the government and can be dissolved if that corporation is a harm. Update your software. Conservatives haven’t won the popular vote in the last 8 cycles. The people don’t want what you’re selling.
No, I think we should use their own rules against them until they agree we should go back to the old/proper rules. This is the only way to stop the “incorrect behavior.” Tit-for-tat has been shown to change behavior.
Yeah cause 2 wrongs always make a right…….. You have to know that there is zero chance for that agreement. It will just escalate and get worse. Compromising your own principles to teach an offender a lesson seems improper to me but to each their own. Rationalize it how you like but the only lesson you will be teaching is you didn’t ever believe in those principles to begin with.
(Had to cut all but the last comment due to word count.)
You wotoe:
Well, how do you propose stopping the incorrect behavior? Because whatever the Right is doing, it ain’t working.
Again. tit-for-tat has been shown to be one of the most reliable ways to encourage cooperation (which is what I think “stopping the incorrect behavior” means). I really am open to ideas, but just saying, “Well, my principles!” ain’t cutting it.
What will work?
Game Theory suggests this is the only thing that will work.
To keep silent every time the other poisoner turns evidence and never change is not a winning strategy.
Yeah, I know that further research using the Prisoner’s Dilemma “looped” has found some nuances that work better than straight tit-for-tat, but T4T is still the basis of those tactics.
Who said keep silent?? That is the opposite of what I’m saying. I just don’t support turning into what we condemn. That to me is lunacy.
Silent in context of the Prisoner Delimina. Staying silent instead of Turing the other person in. That is what I mean by staying silent. It is the one prisoner staying silent. In the context of the game logic thought experiment.
And because just “talking about it” isn’t going to change their behavior.
it’s sad to see what’s happened to David French. I don’t know his motivations; I won’t pretend to guess. We do see people for whatever reasons go through identity crises and come out the opposite. There are many folks on the right who were once on the left. There are many who end up going the other way. I never really went through that. Right leaning philosophy and ideas always made more sense to me. Plus I live in Seattle where I’m surrounded by the far left and they’re insane.
French now seems like a fully on lefty who just isn’t quite ready to admit it yet.
