Women: Hersheys Canada Hates You

Recently I wrote a post, Canada, Your Paperwork Is Done…and So Are You, that highlighted the “legal” ratification of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s totalitarian action in Canada. Now Hersheys Canada is using a trans wo(man) to represent women for International Women’s Day.

Canada, Are you going to stand for this?!

I thought some of the responses to the linked tweet were right on point:

Conservative Momma @conmomma said:

We have gone from not being able to vote, to being completely negated altogether. This is “progress.” Thanks for slapping women in the face with this one @Hersheys. This is Hershey’s way of saying men can do everything better, including womanhood.

Ken Freeman @FreeBlackMan said:

Next year @hersheys will probably feature Rachel Dolezal in a promo for Black History Month. There’s no difference in that and what they’re doing to women

Andrea E @AAC0519 said:

@Hersheys is removing women from its ad campaign on international women’s day. Doesn’t get more tone deaf than that.

Emanon @nicolosi_frank said:

Interestingly Hersheys is oblivious to their insult to biological women, that the best woman for the job is a man.

Cari Kelemen @KelemenCari said:

So a female actress lost a commercial gig to a male?

Michael M. Rogers @TXMikeRogers said:

Perhaps they’ll do blackface next?

These comments are so banal and predictable that it is hard to imagine what Hersheys was thinking. Are they so much in a bubble that they don’t see how people would react?

I particularly like the blackface comment. Why is it that persons of color are supposed to be outraged by blackface while applauding trans wo(men)? How is one bad and the other good? Rubbing shoe polish on your face doesn’t make you black, hispanic, or whatever. Putting on a dress doesn’t make you a woman. When did “common sense” stop being, well, common?

At least when Dustin Hoffman played Tootsiethe plot was about how wrong it was, not how empowering for women it was. Did we really not know anything in 1982? (And his performance was nominated for an Oscar as Best Actor, not Best Actress.)

And, finally, as Mrs Rodin points out: How many trans (wo)men are celebrated like this? Why is it always a wo(man)? Could anything be more misogynistic than the trans movement?

And why Canada? Is it because the most famous gender fluid of all — Justin(e) Trudeau — is Prime Minister? (Of course he/she needs a little work on his/her LGBTQ+ lingo , but then again, who doesn’t want all those pronouns: He/She, He/Her, He/Him, His, Himself, She/Her, Hers, Herself, They/Them, Theirs, themself, Ze (or Zie), Zee, and xe)?

Those pesky Canadians also try to tell us “Elliot” Page is all man.

    Same for Justin Trudeau.

International Women’s Day is as left as they come.  I once went to a dinner honoring women for the day (not by choice).  One of the honorees was being celebrated because she paid for other women to have abortions.  Thankfully she didn’t bother to show up to accept the award.  Now this was in western Massachusetts, but you get the idea.

Perhaps Hershey US learned a lesson from Gilette’s various forays into trans and obese people.

The very phrase “totalitarian action” is a non sequitur.  It makes no sense whatsoever.

The word totalitarianism, if it means anything, describes an entire system of government.  It does not describe a specific action.

I could understand calling Trudeau’s action “heavy-handed” or “excessive.”

Wasn’t International Women’s Day set up by the Communists or am I mixing it up with earth day? Anyway I had an emailed from Diversity and Inclusion at work yesterday inviting me to some coffee thing, what stood out was the repeated use of the word equity, gender equity and so on.

I guess maybe it should now be called International Feminine-Side Day?

Jeremey Boreing (Daily Wire) is creating their own candy bar in response to Hershey. They did the same thing against Harry’s razors.

Yet another company I cannot boycott because I don’t buy their products anyway.

If I have a hankerin’ for chocolate, I get one of the weird brands they sell at the dollar store, like Jacquot.

“99 Cent Only” stores in Phoenix used to have some really good French chocolate bars.  Too bad there aren’t any where I live now.
