F-18s Over the Scottish Highlands
Two F-18E Super Hornets flew over the Highlands of Scotland. Richard Hanrahan, one of the pilots, edited the video and added some musical selections.
Both aircraft used some Go-Pr0 cameras to record the flight over the West Highlands from take-off to landing from their carrier off the coast of Scotland.
Not every day is a holiday, not every meal is a feast for a Navy pilot, but this was a pretty good day to be a Navy pilot. If you need a 15-minute flight from the latest outrage of the day, enjoy the video.

Gorgeous. Thanks for sharing.
Scotland is truly beautiful, whether viewed from the sky or the ground.
The first time I remember landing there in 1974 I couldn’t believe there could be so many different colors of green
Beautiful, and the video becomes more spectacular as it goes on. I was looking for a barrel roll and was not disappointed.
Good one Doug. Sure a lot nice than the videos of N. Viet Nam the pilots let me check out 50 years ago.
Great to have a job for which a couple thousand people are required to support your fun use of a really great toy.
Agree a great toy. Not sure how much of the pilot’s time is “fun” use as opposed to getting ready for the bad guys.
I don’t know how many hours of flight time, carrier landings, and takeoffs, the Navy requires for pilots to stay qualified. I do know that the Oregon Air Guard requires their F-15 pilots to have a certain number of hours of flight time each month to stay qualified and retain their ability to fly.
Several years ago, or so German military helicopter pilots lost their qualification to fly due to the lack of flight time.
It’s cool, but it’s not Ireland.
My father used to take movies of the landscape in Vietnam from the Marines’ helicopters with a little 16mm camera in Vietnam. He’d show them to us when he came home. He loved the landscape, and the people there.
Loved it all when I went back in 2015. Great views; nice people; good food. The folks liked jawing with American vets. Amazing history. And nobody was shooting. Even when I walked the Long Bien Bridge my ship’s pilots were bombing in the long ago.
Great video, had to mute the soundtrack and change the music though.
Hey, what to you have against the pipes?
