If I Was O’Keefe…

James O’Keefe was Project Veritas. He has done incredible things. And now, apparently, he is being removed.

But the thing is, the mission Veritas fulfills does not require incredible resources to be successful – it requires good actors, secret cameras, and a few social media accounts.  It does not need to be huge, and it can be built around a single quirky personality.

Now that Veritas has thrown him out, O’Keefe can – and should – start all over, with an organization not in thrall to a board of directors that might be hostile to its mission. Worst case: Veritas folds and O’Keefe succeeds. Best case: there are two organizations doing the same thing, and well.

James O’Keefe: go for it!

Seems a put up job- the principal complainant just arrived on scene and started firing complaints. Do I smell money?

You forget about legal defense which is going to be a huge cost.

He should not reincorporate as a charity. That makes donors known to the government who will weaponize it.

He should get out of New York and any other rabidly blue areas where the crazy psychopaths are in charge of the legal system.

Still listed as CEO. Presumably much is going on behind the scenes:

I’m not suggesting he resettle in DC or its burbs. That’s like jumping from the frying pan into the fire. It’s not as though there aren’t airports and an interstate system.

Not hugely relevant. IIRC, they have deliberately filed their own suits in NY state courts where they could have filed in Federal courts elsewhere.

It would  very interesting to see what was said at the meeting between O’Keefe and the PV board. Anyone at PV care to.leak the meeting minutes?

Also, the timing of this just reeks of Pfizer influences following so shortly after O’Keefe’s PV takedown of Pfizer. The admission by the Pfizer exec concerning  gain-of-function research exposes Pfizer to staggering revenue losses and potential criminal liability. I’d also be interested in seeing the bank records of the PV board members, and seeing whether whether any of their kids have suddenly been admitted to Stanford or Yale. There’s tens of billions of dollars in play here.

And yes, I have a nasty suspicious mind.

Timing was likely influenced by this:

The organization laid off some of its staff before Christmas, it faces a federal criminal investigation into its role in the Ashley Biden stolen diary caper, and O’Keefe apparently fired two top executives last week.

The board reportedly reinstated the fired executives before O’Keefe went on leave.

    Emphasis added.

The other real or imagined O’Keefe transgressions are more the type to get addressed quietly and perhaps over time. If the Board thought he was out of line with the two firings, that may have forced their hand.

James O’Keefe has broken enormously important stories: from abortion doctors selling human bits off, to Pfizer admitting they try to improve the Covid virus, PV has pioneered a form of exposure journalism that lays the Left bare. It has been incredibly successful, and with very few resources.

Along the way the founder, James O’Keefe, built the big organization, Project Veritas.  It has a board.

And now the Board, probably in a desire to become a little more normal, has put O’Keefe on leave and is trying to remove him from PV.

    Does that help?

I think it’s more likely the board is trying to raid assets as it’s estimated PV has 20 to 30 million in the bank.

No.. I can accept your proposition as entirely plausible, but it‘s depressing as hell when someone who’s created an valuable alternative to normal MSM pablum journalism is seen as some who needs to be pushed out. Normal is CNN, MSNBC etc.

I met O’Keefe on an NR Cruise.  I’ll just say that I’m not surprised that there are allegations that he mistreated employees.

I probably wouldn’t want to work directly for him.  But I have the same attitude towards Steve Jobs (now deceased) and Elon Musk.  With people like that, you don’t want to get too close to the sun.

Not all great people are mean just to be mean, but it seems many are.  Examples of greats who weren’t, were George Washington, U.S. Grant and Abraham Lincoln.

So you don’t have to be a jerk to be great.  O’Keefe chooses to be.  I hope he continues what seems to be his life’s calling, but I  will stay away if I ever have the opportunity to get close.

That’s a problem with nonstock corporations. That’s how many of the great charitable foundations founded by nonleftists have gotten taken over by the left.

I bought his book and enjoyed reading it. He isn’t someone I would want to work for but he is the type who makes a good muckraker. He also takes a lick and keeps on ticking. Customs jacked him up when we left the ship in Seattle. I don’t doubt they did of the deep state’s request.

These days being “mean” to people can be enough.  Especially if they can claim it’s because they’re “Trans” or something.
