More Doubling Down on Crazy?

It now appears that the FBI’s next target will be certain Catholics (or perhaps all Catholics) who do not hew to the “Company Line.”  In this National Review article, little is said as to how the Feds arrived at their latest target. Heck, who needs a reason?

The FBI’s Richmond field office released an internal memo last month warning against “radical traditionalist Catholic ideology,” and claiming it “almost certainly presents new mitigation opportunities,” according to a document shared by an FBI whistleblower on Wednesday.

Kyle Seraphin, who was a special agent at the bureau for six years before he was indefinitely suspended without pay in June 2022, published the document, “Interest of Racially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremists in Radical Traditionalist Catholic Ideology Almost Certainly Presents New Mitigation Opportunities,” on UncoverDC.com.

“In making this assessment, FBI Richmond relied on the key assumption that [racially or ethnically motivated extremists] will continue to find [radical-traditionalist Catholic or RTC] ideology attractive and will continue to attempt to connect with RTC adherents, both virtually via social media and in-person at places of worship,” the document from January 23 states.

What should matter to all of us is that the Feds (especially the FBI) really don’t need a reason these days. Any of us who might not be a raving Progressive can expect to soon be in their sights.

More evidence supporting the idea of zeroing out the FBI and salting the earth.

    Just to be sure.

    Or maybe…

Well, I better not write that.  Just in case the FBI is watching.

The FBI has an excellent database of carpet and paint samples, which should be kept.  Any agent willing to spend their time investigating normal folks needs to find a new job.

They relied on data from the Southern Poverty Law Center? Seriously?? Good grief.

    UPDATE:

I saw this afternoon that the FBI had “retracted” their memo because it didn’t meet “Bureau Standards”.  In other words, they were caught.

A couple of things to remember though.  You can’t “retract” bigotry.  And, you can’t “retract” stupidity.

I believe that it was last November that NR wrote an article entitled “How to Fix the FBI”.  I believe you can file that article under “fiction”.

I wonder who or what caught them? Were they possibly responding to the level of protest from the public? It would be nice to think so.

Based on the FBI’s refusal to rescind their memo on those “terrorists” at the school board meetings, I can’t imagine that they care much about the public.

I believe that their dependence on information from the SPLC doomed their latest effort to intimidate a sizable segment of the public.

Those people who generated the original memo are still at the FBI; plotting their next move.

There never seem to be any consequences when the FBI is called out for their misdeeds; the guilty party is either reassigned or retired with pension. Why should we expect any improvement?

It’s a pretty sad commentary on a once-proud organization.  Yeah, J. Edgar Hoover may have danced around in a tutu and he may have accumulated information on high profile figures but at least his organization made an attempt to protect the American people.

Yup. Just like the people who put concerned parents on the terrorist list.

They retracted because they got caught, and all the spin in the world won’t hide that fact.

    Defund the FBI.

I don’t. The only thing we can do is burn the FBI to the ground.

I wonder how much public support that would have? I tend to think it would be bipartisan support.
