Fauci Chose Dogma over Science
America’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic was possibly the most consequential public policy blunder in our history.
The enormous costs included $5 trillion or so in unproductive federal spending, inflation, reduction in our standard of living, and permanent economic damage that will be felt for generations to come.
There was massive learning loss and the specter of loved ones dying alone. The incidence of depression and drug addiction skyrocketed. Businesses were shuttered while many Americans seemingly lost their work ethic.
What happened? The short answer is that we panicked and listen to “experts” who vowed we could halt this virus if we were willing to sacrifice enough.
At first, with imperfect information about a deadly new phenomenon, projecting a worst-case scenario and drastic measures to prevent it made sense. However, more data and experience with the virus soon tended to support a strategy of containment (“stop the spread”).
Still, the decision-makers at the World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), double down on their zero-Covid based recommendations. Lockdowns ensued. We scoffed at cost-benefit analysis. “If only one life…” and “in an abundance of caution…” became the guiding standards of policymaking.
The American people mostly went along with it. Why wouldn’t they? They were provided little awareness of alternate approaches.
Once the narrative had been established that eradication was the only permissible strategy, opposing viewpoints were excluded to a degree any Third World dictator would have envied.
Dissenters were shamed and censored. Professional reputations were attacked. Dr. Fauci informed us that “I am the science” and thus, all who disagreed were “science deniers.”
Consider the case of Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, a Professor of Health Policy at Stanford. He also directs Stanford’s Center for Demography and Economics of Health and Aging and is a research associate at the National Bureau of Economics Research.
So, the doc isn’t exactly an empty suit. He was also a co-author of the Great Barrington Declaration, signed now by thousands of medical scientists and practitioners, which advocated for “focused protection” against Covid.
Since Covid is dangerous only to a relatively small proportion of the population, it was argued that the greatest efforts should be in protecting people most at risk, the chronically ill and elderly. This would focus resources where they do the most good, saving lives and money.
Agree or not, there is nothing looney about this notion that one-size-fits-all doesn’t make sense for COVID-19. It was mainstream common sense, advocated by highly qualified, non-political scientists.
Yet the blogosphere and leading scientific opinion channels exploded with vitriolic denunciations. The authors were accused of promoting infections among the young to achieve a cruel herd immunity strategy. GDB was promoting a wholesale return to our pre-pandemic lives, they were encouraging fringe groups who distrust health officials and prioritizing individual preference above public good.
None of it was true, but to the social media tyrants, that didn’t mean that Dr. Bhattacharya should be vigorously debated. It meant that he must be threatened and silenced.
We just recently learned that he was indeed censored and intentionally shadowbanned by Twitter. His account was tagged with the label “Trends Blacklist.” He was censored before he tweeted a single message.
He had violated no rules. He spread no “misinformation.” He only defied the approved consensus. He was silenced by the mob at Twitter, none of whom had anything like his knowledge or experience.
The GBD authors were right, of course. None of the isolations, lockdowns, or school closures affected the eventual course of the virus. We received virtually no benefit from the massive self-inflicted harm.
It’s ironic in our supposedly modern, enlightened age that Dogma won out over Science. That is, we based our societal decisions on knowledge rooted in deemed authority, not the open inquiry of the scientific method.
We paid a big price for listening to the Faucis of the world with their refusal to balance benefit with cost. Dr. Fauci bragged of not caring about the cost of his demands.
They convinced our leaders to spend money we don’t have in a vain attempt to achieve the impossible.
Bad idea. We can’t afford to let it happen again.

The Pandemic/Vax atrocity is a massive criminal taking of millions of American’s lives , health and property.
The Constitution guarantees “just compensation “ for this massive criminal taking. That’s right – guarantees. When are we the people going to get justice and our “just compensation” for this unbelievable criminal assault on the American People?Every day thousands are dying from the Vax directly or from Covid that ruined their immune system that left them vulnerable to the latest strains of Covid. All across the Western World those particularly who got the Vax booster are dying from Covid in great number but the unvaccinated are not.
I know many here at Ricochet do not want to face the ugly, grim truth that if you got the Vax, your health has been very likely compromised and if got the booster likely severely compromised. Foreign studies have shown that 94% of those who got the jab had severely fouled bloodwork and at least the beginnings of the terrible unnatural blood clots caused by the Vax that are killing so many people.
Far too many health care professionals, particularly our public health care professionals, have joined the atrocious criminal conspiracy to injure, maim and kill Americans in great numbers.
The really sad part is right now we desperately need a monumental honest investigation of the vax injuries and deaths and a huge, comprehensive and thorough Vax treatment program to prevent more injuries and deaths but too many in the health care and associated industries are too busy trying kill Americans .
Indeed. I’m 83 so went along and got a couple of shots Lost my sense of smell and taste with the second shot so took no more. Smell and taste hasn’t returned. It’s at zero. We were ignorant and so were they, but it’s being used along with other matters, such as a war, and increased centralization of power and wealth to destroy the republic. If the republic survives maybe we’ll fix matters and cause China to change as well, but it doesn’t look good.
The post is rightly condemning the poor and dishonest medical advice given us by public officials, but your assertions are even more outlandish than what we heard from Fauci. Where does the constitution require just compensation for a pandemic or for being vaccinated? 94% of vaccinated people have fouled bloodwork? What does that even mean? And all those 94% have blood clots?? Healthcare professionals and public health officials are involved in a criminal conspiracy to injure, maim, and kill Americans in great numbers???
It is incredible to look back and see how easily we gave up our rights. The people who pushed the death jab and lockdowns should be held criminally responsible.
This would not have been nearly as bad if we had the power in the state and localities where it should be. Too much federal control over education and healthcare really hurt. Now we are seeing the same in energy and food production with Climate change as the alleged cause.

I lost taste and smell after a not-particularly-bad bout of Covid in October 2020. It has slowly but surely begun to return.
That said, I am no longer lying about my weight on my Drivers License, so I got that going for me. Also, we never much of a foodie, so not being able to smell or taste hasn’t been terribly missed.

I would say “yes”.
Which is to say I don’t believe for a minute my vaxxed, Covid front-line nurse friend was involved in a conspiracy and lied when he told me there was no early treatments for Covid, or that the vax worked.
But public health officials were certainly lying when they made those claims, and my nurse friend believed them.
I don’t know a lot about healthcare or medicine, but from my unschooled eyes this appears to have been a problem that was managed exclusively by the dictates of the higher-ups. With the possible exception of AIDS, I don’t remember such a top-down approach. And certainly not an approach that included punishment and threats to those who colored outside the lines.
Was it the intent of public health officials to injure, kill and maim Americans in untold numbers? I don’t know if that was their intent, but it was certainly the consequence.
Will we ever learn the truth? I doubt it.
Studies by Italian researchers elaborating on other studies by South Korean researchers based upon a large sample base found that the bloodwork of 94% of those tested who had taken the jab had very irregular bloodwork and at least the beginning of the long fibrous unnatural often found in people who died from the vax.
Numerous embalmers here in the US are reporting that in between 50 to 70% of the dead bodies they work on have these very strange long fibrous blood clots.

This fibrous blood clot issue should be an existential national medical emergency that was receiving highest level of attention and care but any effort to deal with this national medical crisis has been stymied and suppressed by a powerful coalition government of not only Big Pharma, but the Medical Establishment where Doctor’s licenses are threatened, Insurance companies, hospitals, virtually all the public health care agencies, both Federal and Locally, all the large media conglomerates including Google, Apple and Facebook, almost all the major networks for both TV and radio, almost all of the Democratic Party and much of the GOPe.
Since hundreds of thousands of public officials are involved in this suppression, it is a “taking” and we the American People deserve “just compensation “ under the fifth amendment
Governments FORCED closures (just compensation). Governments FORCED vaccines (just compensation). Governments FORCED use of property with no rent (just compensation).
Again, where is that covered in the Constitution of the United States?

As far as I can tell there are no penalties for violations of the Constitution, the highest law of the land, other than non-election or impeachment. Maybe a civil suit if the offenders cannot claim immunity.
There is a penalty beyond that, and it’s Just War.

This whole thing about increase in blood clots due to the vaccines is apparently a myth like the Loch Ness Monster. Apparently most people start forming blood clots after they die. There has been some talk among embalmers about finding more fibrous clots than usual, but it started more than a year before the vaccines came out. Covid 19 causes these clots.

He credibly debunks the entire idea that the vaccines cause unusual blood clots, or that these fibrous clots are unusual at all. The 5th Amendment to the Constitution says “nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.” How does that apply to Covid? What property was taken for public use?
Point of law: As 5th Amendment law has developed, for the most part, the government only owes compensation for a “taking” if the government’s actions permanently and totally prevent a property owner from using the property for any purpose.
That is why property owners cannot get compensation when permitting processes take years or even decades, or building or use permits are granted only on condition of dedicating a portion of the property to a “public use,” or when new regulations prevent the owner from building certain types of businesses or buildings, as long as there remains something the owner can do with the property. Reduced income or increased costs do not count as “takings” as 5th Amendment law has developed. We may not like that interpretation of a “taking,” but that’s where the law is.
The government is going to say, “The government only inconvenienced the business for two (or three) years. The government didn’t prevent all future business. That the business couldn’t survive that minor inconvenience is not the government’s fault. The business was undercapitalized (or poorly run). Or the business could have changed its business model to something not affected by the inconvenience, such as a ‘no employee’ model or a ‘no in-person customers’ model.” [Remember as you say, “that makes no sense,” these arguments are made by bureaucrats and lawyers and decided by judges, all of whom have probably always received a salary, and never had to make payroll or scrounge for revenue with which to make payroll.]
