Speaking Truth to Power: The Real Deal

Governor Abbott of Texas actually did speak truth to power instead of just speechify about it when he handed “President” Biden the following letter pointing out how miserably — criminally?— this pathetic excuse for a Commander-in-Chief has violated his oath of office in many ways, in this instance, about the border.

The full letter is below, but here is the main charge: “…you have violated your constitutional obligation to defend the States against invasion through faithful execution of federal laws.” Would that more Governors and others in positions of leadership other than just Gov. Abbott and, of course, our Governor, Ron DeSantis, have the [_ _ _ _ _] to tell this wretched, corrupt old pol to his face how he is destroying his own country, the one he took a solemn oath (I’m so old, I remember when that meant what it said) to defend.

Here’s the letter:

Thank you, Gov. Abbott. It is my fervent hope that more of your colleagues will follow your lead and take important (and, yes, perhaps futile, considering how little of a functioning mind our “President” has left) steps like you just did.

Speaking truth to power, indeed!

I see your point; however- how many “leaders” do you know of who actually said these words to Biden? As far as I know, only DeSantis. That’s pretty pathetic  considering how many governors there are … just sayin’

I’m all for people speaking out strongly. But this morning I heard Jim Jordan on the radio, for example, and he’s all excited about all these investigations that will be happening. Maybe we have to maintain the “squeaky wheel” mentality and hope that with enough exposure, things will slowly change. I’m trying to remain optimistic, but it’s difficult.

For me, it’s not just difficult; it’s well nigh impossible even with all the encouraging statements we see coming out of the new Republican contingent in the House. While I love the sound of all these great promises and proclamations, we also hear that the regime is planning all kinds of counterattacks against anyone who dares question their monarchical rule and this bound to cause some of the big talkers, who have families to protect, to pause and maybe even back off entirely. Hannity (who we rarely watch as his show usually consists of himself making speeches in the guise of questions to his guests) had a great show last night in which he showcased some of the new Republican members — in addition to Jim Jordan, who I consider to be one of the brightest hopes we have in the new group, some others were most impressive including John James, Comer, Donalds and the one who is truly a rising star, Elise Stefanik who has all the makings of the first female President.

On another note, we send our best wishes to the Florida Ricochet meet-up and hope a good time is had by all!

I appreciate your post. I have a positive view because of my principled beliefs, but I don’t consider that makes me optimistic or pessimistic.

Also, I’m really cautious about any excitement about congressional candidate for executive offices. We have been experiencing that by someone who now thinks he has that lawmaking charge in the White House. He knows nothing else.

Oh, I’m not de-buffing Abbott here.  GODSPEED, Guvnah!   Just pointing out that the Biden border is the exact same as the Obama border.  We just had a four-year reprieve is all.

As the younger folks (and for me that’s all folks…) would put it: my bad! I took it the way I did as I have heard some conservative commentators say some negative things about Abbott and I personally did not care to find out about his apparent affiliation with the World Economic Forum. Thanks for the clarification.
