An Outbreak of Maturity in the House

Both sides in the Speaker Wars are stepping back from the brink and making things right, which is necessary for House Republicans to work together to fight back against the Democrats’ destructive plans.

Matt Gaetz forgave Mike Rogers on national television for lunging at him on the floor between the 14th and 15th rounds of voting for the Speaker. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/gaetz-forgives-rogers-heated-exchange-speaker-chaos

And Mike Rogers said he regretted his actions. Both men agreed that they would have a good working relationship on the Armed Services Committee going forward.

Dan Crenshaw apologized for calling the Rebels terrorists, although he reiterated his criticism. https://www.dailywire.com/news/dan-crenshaw-walks-back-terrorist-comment-against-gop-house-members

Andy Biggs congratulated McCarthy on his win. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/holdout-biggs-silver-lining-speaker-battle

Jim Jordan defended the “messy” process as the way the Founders intended it. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/jordan-sometimes-democracys-messy-defense-speaker-chaos

Chip Roy is trying to get leaders of both parties together to discuss the debt limit+. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/house/we-will-use-the-tools-of-the-house-roy-warns-mccarthy-debt-ceiling-negotiations

The factions in the Republican Party can get more done if they work together, even while standing firm in their convictions, so I’m encouraged by this.

Crenshaw, I will hazard a viewpoint, seems to me a bit like Davy Crockett, who went after Jackson (under whom he had been forced at gunpoint to murder Native Americans) with great vituperation, and when he lost his seat from Tennessee (likely due to his clashes with Jackson) he left Congress with the immortal line: You can all go to Hell and I will go to Texas.

I thought Kelly Johnson said that.

    Kelly who?

Aw, . . . gone and forgotten already.

His leaving affected me.  I learned to like the word flounce.

I will know that we are united when folks stop using the slur of the “uniparty.”

Or calling other Republicans a “Nut Brigade,”which you did in the past week, Gary.

I also don’t think that “uniparty” is a slur. It seems an apt description for the group consisting of Democrats and those who say that they are Republicans while doing thing like voting for Democrats.

For goodness sake dammit. When are you and Hoyacon going to stop beating me up over that? Today? Tomorrow? Next year? Never?

I missed all the action, but did you apologize for calling Repubs a “Nut Brigade”? If not, then “never” is a reasonable expectation.

I guess you’ll have to start beating up on me since I too believe there is a nut brigrade within the Republican Party. You mean that you don’t?

I won’t be beating up in either of you because you’re not worth the effort.

Given the splits in the party, it is hard to credit anyone who says he thinks there are no bad apples, nuts, or raisins on the other side. In this thread, Dan Cranshaw is part of the nut brigade. Pots and kettles are in our chorus.

Why not just think someone is wrong until you have some objective proof of more?
