This Is Going to Be Fun

This morning I signed the contract for the next audiobook. When I get a manuscript, I generally scan it for words that will be tricky to pronounce, usually places or peoples’ names. Then I do a search for the pronunciation (I like DuckDuckGo a lot better than Google for many reasons). Well, when I searched the author’s name on this one, I came upon this excellent podcast about the book from National Review.

I picked The Good Country from the list that Redwood Audiobooks sent me because it was a positive history of America and Americans. It’s even better than I had hoped. I am going to love recording this, and when it’s published, I’m going to flog the hell out of it. This is how we fight the woke statue-breakers and similar idiots.

So…what words or place names did you discover?

Well, there’s Lajos Kossuth, the man who led the movement to free Hungary and make it democratic. And Jean Baptiste Point du Sable, the first resident of Chicago.

I see a couple of other titles by him that I want to read, too.

Thank you for bringing this book to the Ricochetti!  I am also tickled that you record audiobooks and decided to pick this one out.

I bought it after reading a review of it in NR by Stanley Kurtz:

    https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/the-missing-link-in-american-history/

It piqued my interest because I was born and raised on the Midwest prairie, where my ancestors settled 140+ years ago and lived ever since.

Your positive review has prompted me to move the book to the top of my stack as my next read!

Very good. I’ll have the audiobook done in 4-6 weeks, I hope. I’ve read it, and will start recording today. It’s as good as I hoped it would be, in many places better.
