Closing Arguments

This is Ron DeSantis’ closing ad for Florida.

What does that ad say with very few words? This is NOT the last stop.

He should win at least 90-10, but it’ll probably be more like 60-40.  Which is frankly disgusting even though it’s a win.

Didn’t they already?  It wasn’t just the Dims accusing him of wanting to kill Grandma, was it?

Charlie Crist is one more example of a ‘good Republican’ in the eyes of the cowardly gOpE.

This is what Liz Cheney wants out of the ‘opposition’ Party. A pox on her house.

I am ashamed to live in the Slave State of Washington, where our governor has pledged to stop all sales of gas-powered cars by 2035, and in January a new “carbon tax” will increase our gas prices by about $0.50 per gallon.  On top of the second-highest gas taxes in the country already.  On October 31, most of the “Covid Mandates” ended, EXCEPT for the most onerous ones.  Masks will now be required permanently in all health-care venues, and all state employees will be required to get the Covid jab before being allowed to work.  The Health Nazis have won.  And the Dictator is contemplating running for a fourth term.  If he runs, he will be elected.

After watching DeSantis go all honey badger on  the mainstream media I am not worried about GOPe turning on him. They will get shredded.

This DeSantis ad is showing locally. It’s only one minute; the rest of the video prints out the narrative and feedback from those who were supporting Casey DeSantis and her recovery from cancer.

Could you be more specific as to who these GOPes are? The mainstream conservatives* I’ve been reading the past few months have been quite enthusiastic about Ron DeSantis, both as to his record as governor and to his possible candidacy for POTUS. I’m about as GOPey as they come and I’d dance barefoot through a field of Jimmy Buffet pop tops to vote for DeSantis.

    * and I don’t regard Jennifer Rubin or Max Boot as mainstream

Both Bill Kristol and Liz Cheney have wandered off to the margins. I don’t know what the Bulwark crowd are thinking but I don’t consider them mainstream (it seems the only people who have ever paid them any mind are Trump supporters). And let’s not even mention the Lincoln Project. I’m talking ‘National Review’ mainstream. All huzzahs for DeSantis from that bastion. Same goes for the writers and editors of Commentary Magazine. And you’re almost certain to get a round of applause from the Dispatch people. Could we see Jonah Goldberg standing side by side with Kurt Schlichter on the barricades? Strange bedfellows and all that.

Sorry to all,  Governor DeSantis is unavailable;  he is going to be busy in Florida for the next 4 years.  But until then, here is picture to make y’ll smile:  a photo from Casey DeSantis’s email today.   And, don’t forget, you can get your “Don’t Tread On Florida” jacket at the following website:

It ain’t over till we say it’s over. And we haven’t said that yet, more like, “We haven’t begun to fight.” The next two elections will be very instructive. So, don’t give up the fight, even in Washington or California.

Where he might get plastered by players a lot meaner than he is.

My late step-father grew up in a Democratic family.  The last few decades of his life he always voted Republican, but he could not bring himself to refer to himself as a Republican – he called himself an independent.  I guess some people want to hold onto an old label (or at least not embrace their historical opponent’s label) even though they don’t actually vote that way anymore. I don’t know why people like Bill Kristol and Jen Rubin don’t just come out of the closet and admit they are now Democrats.

I also do not know why so many Republicans believe that all the strings in the GOP are pulled by this tiny number of Democrats in disguise, who do not hold political office and do not hold any official position in the party.
