Woke and Consequences

The UK’s Royal Air Force made a decision not to recruit white male pilots because of diversity, inclusion, and equity (DIE). (RAF ‘pauses job offers to white men to meet diversity targets’)

So, what did those men do when their home country refused to permit them to serve? Some of them are being recruited by a country that doesn’t give a damn about diversity quotas. Ex-UK pilots lured to help Chinese military.

Up to 30 former UK military pilots are thought to have gone to train members of China’s People’s Liberation Army. Attempts to headhunt pilots are ongoing and had been ramping up recently, Western officials say.

A spokesperson from the Ministry of Defence said the training and the recruiting of pilots does not breach any current UK law but officials in the UK and other countries are trying to deter the activity.

“It is a lucrative package that is being offered to people,” said one Western official, adding that “money is a strong motivator”. Some of the packages are thought to be as much as £237,911 ($270,000).

China … something something… rope… capitalists… I mean, the pilots showing up to help China may or may not be pilots whose careers have been negatively affected by DIE policies. And I guess you can decry their lack of patriotism. But also remember that in addition to making white men second-class citizens, His Majesty’s Government is locking people in jail for tweets that offend gender dysphorics, and just passed a law making it illegal to pray outside an abortion clinic. It’s not like they are abandoning a free country to work for a tyrannical one. It’s more of a lateral move.

An aside: these pilots are moving into a society where they are going to experience real, genuine, government-certified racism. If you’re not Chinese, you’re second class. May shake some of them up a bit.

The Brits have nothing to complain about. They have brought this disaster on themselves.

There are two wrongs here.  I’m not getting all misty over individuals with a marketable skill who choose to train Chinese pilots.

When I was in the UK (+8 years) they were not as PC as us Yanks.  They weren’t much concerned about offending people, although they weren’t blatant about it either.  But that was 30 years ago.  I’m stunned by the change.

Recognize causation. We may eventually see many undesirable actions in America that would never have happened absent the anti-American progressive agenda.

I’m not excusing the causation.  But these individuals likely have decent alternatives.

Even back in the 70s, MASH did an episode about a pilot who was so into flying that he didn’t even mind dropping bombs on civilians and children, as long as he got to fly.

No, but I guess it could be received as that since I’m not already counting what we have experienced here. The worst things here so far are not the ‘woke’ actions but actual criminal and unpatriotic acts by government representatives.

Yes, and what is the chance it applies to a government entity like the Royal Air Force anyway?

In both the US and UK, the left has taken over the last institution that was not poisoned by their ideology – the military.

The bad news is that the US Army will miss their targets for recruits this and next year.

The good news is that basic training has a drag queen drill instructor

While I’m not in agreement with them doing this at all, the demonization that ‘white males’ are under on both sides of the pond would eventually lead to arrangements like this.

Is what they’re doing substantially worse than what the manufacturing, information & technology, global trade and finance sectors have given China for the past 30 years?

Yes. Similar to the thought I expressed in #7. Continue this direction and get more of it.

    I don’t think so.

I think that a talented white male who is denied his desired employment, for which he is qualified, because of the anti-white racism of the woke millennials, which has been adopted by the government of his country, might be justified in thinking that his country no longer deserved his loyalty.

Because his country, like ours, has demonstrated that it is an openly racist and sexist place, which hates white men of talent and wants to deny them employment.

Why should he have any loyalty to such a country?

I suppose, but anyone who pays attention or does a small amount of research quickly finds that China is even more racist.

To give their expertise to the Chinese military is a truly selfish thing to do. These guys know better than anyone that the Chinese have all the materials and technology they need to win in a confrontation with the West, a confrontation that sees the United Kingdom and the United States on one side and Russia and China on the other. All they lack is the expertise to use them. The pilots have the right to sell their skills to the highest bidder, but I have no respect for them at all. I know they know what’s at stake.

The family, the neighborhood, the town, the city, the state, and the country aren’t just a source of material support for the individuals that make them up. Their molecular bonds are made of love and devotion and hard work. Love is often a one-way street. And things will go wrong from time to time, as they clearly are right now in the United Kingdom and United States militaries. The noble response to their dilemma is to say to themselves, “If we feel this way, others do too. We have to fix this. If we don’t, everyone we love is at risk.”

I can understand their leaving the military if they truly cannot see a way to fix it from the inside. But it’s one thing for an individual to leave his or her family. It’s quite another to make life harder for the family he or she leaves behind.

It seems reasonable that they would.  Rather than “Okay we’re going to teach you how to fly advanced fighter jets, and then later you can sell that skill – including knowing what to expect from OUR pilots – to China for profit.”

Honestly, I can’t imagine the Brits’ expecting the pilots to even consider doing that under any circumstances so there wouldn’t be a preemptive rule in place to prohibit it. But I don’t know for sure.
