Things That Make You Scream…

…”I knew that!”

This post by Michael Shellenberger outlines the continued idiocy of the Democratic party, and the destructive energy policies by Biden and his Greenies.

Michael starts by noting that Schumer and pals “in the spring of 2020, killed a proposal by President Donald Trump to replenish the SPR with oil from American producers, not OPEC+ ones, and at a price of $24 a barrel.”  At the time, Schumer “bragged that his party had blocked a “bailout for big oil.”

He later reveals that the “White House had made a secret offer to buy up to 200 million barrels of OPEC+ oil (at $80/Barrel) to replenish the SPR in exchange for OPEC+ not cutting oil production. “

The result of this offer? OPEC+ stuck a thumb in Biden and America’s eye and said they would cut production by 2MM barrels a day.

Biden continues to block oil lease sales, and oil permits at every opportunity.

If he wanted to weaken and destroy the United States, would he do anything differently?

I do not know if there is anything we plebes can do to alter this course.  But, in lieu of screaming at the sky, and shaking a fist in the air, (which I have on occasion done), I have also been writing letters, signing petitions, offered live POV during commission meetings.  You can too. Here is a link to a group that is trying to influence the direction of our energy policy.  Maybe if enough take an active voice role, they might listen.

When my husband reads the morning paper, he has at least one brief rant to offer–an “I can’t believe this. . . !” or “how stupid is this. . .! ” Sometimes he elaborates and I listen quietly, but I’m yelling inside, right along with him. So much for my quiet morning coffee–and I don’t blame him.

Idiocy.  Or looking more like treason.

Or enemy action.   Being rewarded to take the nation down at exactly the rate that the press can cover for them.

@markalexander published a meme recently that I think of frequently but can’t find right now.   A woman is having a cup of coffee and asks whether anyone has a conspiracy theory to share “because mine have all come true.”  Yup.  This one, though, has the possibility of being a very nice October surprise (while also destroying everything in its wake).

My only option of this point is to laugh at lefties complaining about the price of food and energy.

Dems are desperate to undermine the praise for DeSantis and his hurricane response. One touted a green community that didn’t lose energy thanks to its solar panels. I checked it out. What a blight on the landscape and a rare earth element hog. For what my 2,800 sqft house is worth, I would only get about 1,280 sq ft or so. Most houses are $300k and up.

Yes, this.  For too long, I have given the Left the benefit of the doubt, that they were just idiots.  But their continued actions that point to a singular result – and thus goal – the destruction of our nation – leads to the conclusion that this is indeed treason.

There have been a few posts recently here on Ricochet about how we need to listen better to the other side, so we can learn, respect and resolve differences.  It feels good to read those posts and think “if only…, then maybe”.  But reality hits pretty hard when your lying eyes and ears refuse to be blind or deaf.

@sandy re: This one, though, has the possibility of being a very nice October surprise.  Not going to happen. If only America might hear of this secret offer by the Traitor in Chief.  But it will be buried by the press, just like Hunter’s laptop.

This just in:  Biden to release another 10M Barrels of oil from our STRATEGIC RESERVE.  One might have mistakenly thought this strategic reserve was for, ya know, strategic functions, not trying to shore up election potential.  Well, let’s see OPEC+ cuts production by 2M barrels a day, we release 10M Barrels from the reserve, by my white privilege math knowledge, that is 5 days worth of cuts. In the meantime, our reserves are at the lowest since the mid 1980’s.

I’d wager that approximately zero of that set-up could be manufactured, transported and installed using solar energy, and not just due to installed infrastructure benefits had by petro-energy.

This is characteristic of every Dem president since Clinton.  They all want “to weaken and destroy the United States”.

Give me one action, one appointment, one proposed law or one negotiation undertaken by Mr Clinton, Mr Obama or Mr Biden which has served to strengthen the United States and bring more freedom and prosperity to its citizens.

I’ve got one.  Barack Obama let the space shuttle program die, with the belief that private enterprise would be able to deliver people and cargo to low Earth orbit pretty soon.  It made us dependent on the Russians to get our astronauts to the ISS for a few years, but it gave room for the U.S. private rocket industry to bloom.

I can’t give Bill Clinton the credit for welfare reform that others have.  He vetoed bill after bill and only signed the one he signed after it passed by a veto-proof majority.

IMHO, the Shuttle was so expensive that it would have been crowded into bespoke applications regardless.  Of course, the government (like the FAA battling Musk from time to time) could simply regulate private rocketry out of existence regardless of the available technology, so the demise of the shuttle may have been good.

Still, making us ride Russian rockets like space hippies was a miserable state of affairs — unless you were in the group who chuckled at it, seeing America “taken down a peg” or two.

Thanks Randy, but your own words indict your example.  As BDB notes, “It made us dependent on the Russians” is a weakening of the United States.  Mr Hussein Obama had no inkling that a private rocket industry would develop.

It was for a short time frame, and look at where we are now.  Who is at the cutting edge of rocketry and improving quickly, the United States or Russia?

As a Democrat, it would have been easy for Obama to play to type and prop up an expensive and outdated system in perpetuity.  I disagree with Obama’s positions at least ninety percent of the time, but I’m giving him credit on this one.

This is merely another example of unintended consequences.  Oblama’s intent was to diminish the US by scuttling the shuttle. That American ingenuity and capitalism thrived and built competing and more efficient systems was the opposite of what Oblama intended.  (*Oblama for the man who blamed every self induced problem on someone else)

I must disagree. It’s not like the space shuttle was killed, then Elon Musk said, “Holy cow, I better start a rocket company!”  American launch companies were already working on developing their own rocket fleets at the time.  If Obama was as anti-American as you suggest, he should have outlawed private space launches and insisted that only government can do them.
