Introducing Dead People, the ‘Nordstrom’ Pipeline, and Our Alliance with North Korea. Good Grief!

Every morning I scan my favorite news sites to determine whether Putin has taken out the major cities of the Eastern Seaboard or whether Xi has taken out the major cities on the Left Coast. After my relief at learning all those cities are still “intact” (quotes because it is hard to feel Chicago, New Orleans, Portland, San Francisco, etc., are intact in any reasonable sense of the word), I proceed to be amazed, astonished, sickened by the various grotesqueries I learn from this daily exercise.

Now and then, I run across a statement that so perfectly sums up the events of the preceding week I feel I must share it. Such an item is the opening paragraph of the Saturday column of the great and brilliant writer and scholar Steven Hayward of Powerlineblog.com, “The Week in Pictures.” I strongly urge you to check out the entire collection here, but with the caveat that you will, undoubtedly, “get hooked” on it as it is usually loaded with humorous (?) items of satire on the week’s events. Here is his opening — if you can find a better, more concise, description of the inanities rained down upon us last week, please let us know about it:

THE WEEK IN PICTURES: CAT 5 BIDENSTORM EDITION

So let’s see: Biden wonders where a dead congresswoman is, while Vice President Harris lets slip with where her real political loyalties lie—North Korea. Meanwhile, White House spokestoken Karine Jean-Paul Sartre lamented the damage to the “Nordstrom” pipeline, which can only mean the supply chain for Armani suits is in big trouble. Only a Cat 5 leftist brainstorm can explain all this, but as we know, only Republicans are the cause of serious storms.

There you have it! Life in these United States under the leadership of “people” without functioning minds! Thank God we no longer have to put up with mean tweets or where would we be?

God Bless America!

I commented this elsewhere but maybe it belongs here.  I swear this is a direct Biden quote, but maybe I just misheard it — or made it up.

We don’t have nuclear weapons anymore.  There hasn’t been any uranium in our warheads since 1989 and the end of the Cold War.  That’s no joke.  What’s the point of maintaining nuclear missiles if we’re never going use them?  Come on, man. — I’m hearing that I shouldn’t have said that.  I suppose they’re right.

I never miss TWiP.  And that’s something, given that the page sometimes takes several minutes to load on my appalling satellite connection, because of how image-heavy it is.

And while I always appreciate the politically-relevant memes, sometimes the ones that most tickle my fancy have nothing to do with politics and come out of nowhere.  This week, I’m still giggling about this one:

LOL.  These ladies so remind me of my mother, aunties, and grannies on the beach in their fully-fashioned wool bathing suits.  And I’m self-aware enough to be mindful of the fact that–were I and a few of my age-adjacent friends to cavort similarly–we might not look too terribly-much different.  Except, perhaps worse, because we’d be in color.

    Bless.

    This is a great post.

I wonder if Nordstrom sales have increased since the Nord Stream blasts. Lots of free advertising! :-) I did it too when I first came across the term a while ago–my brain went immediately to Nordstrom. :-) :-)

To be fair to the spokestoken* Nordstrom is German for north stream, or more accurately, current.

    *I’m stealing that.

Does anyone else think that the spokeswoman for Biden looks like Shirley Temple Black, and then are afraid to use Shirley’s full name?

I have been hooked on Steven Hayward’s Pictures of the Week for several years. It is the first thing I look at on Saturday morning while sipping my coffee. It is definitely addictive.

Gee, I dunno. The hair’s not quite right. Also, the Good Ship Lollipop probably had a better crew.

You would need a more current photo of Karine.

And I think the look is intentional, make her look “cute” so people don’t hold her accountable for being so stupid.

Depends on what the meaning of the word “dance” is!

You guys should be more forgiving. Poor KJP is a member of several protected classes as a lesbian, a black, and mentally handicapped. Elsewhere I thought that Biden was the avatar for his administration, but KJP may well be a far better avatar since she represents all three of the major characteristics of the administration along with a fourth, total incompetence. She wears an incredible number of hats.

You’d think Luther and Zwingli would have settled that issue by now.
