Our Government Acts in the Best Interests of … Well, Itself. Obviously.

A few points to ponder:

  1. If college graduates were more likely to vote Republican than high school graduates, do you think that our government would be using taxpayer dollars to fund college educations?
  2. If Mexican-Americans voted Republican, do you think the Democrats would be this lax about border security?
  3. If the FBI persecuted Democrats instead of Republicans, do you think that the agency would have been reformed or replaced by now?
  4. If teachers’ unions donated their millions to Republicans instead of Democrats, do you think they would be allowed to demand more and more money to do a worse and worse job teaching our children?
  5. If Blacks voted Republican, do you think that our government would have looked the other way during the Black Lives Matter riots like they did in 2020?
  6. If our media was biased in favor of Republicans, do you think that it would still be considered impolite to criticize media bias?
  7. If social media censored progressive thought, do you think that our government would allow them to do so?

I could go on and on, and you probably could, too.  But regardless, I think that Republicans running for office should emphasize points such as these.  Make it clear to voters that their government is not acting in their best interest.  Our government is acting in the best interests of our government.  As you would expect it to do.

And the only way to protect oneself from government power is to limit government power.  Not give that power to someone else.  But to limit the power itself.

Look what happens when there is too much centralized power.  The FBI becomes corrupt.  So does every other government agency from the Justice Department to ICE to the freakin’ CDC.

Look at which institutions are protected, and by whom.  Black Lives Matter.  Social media tycoons.  Teachers’ unions.  Over-educated laptop carriers.  What do those people have in common?

They support centralized control systems.  So as those centralized control systems gain power, they reward those who helped them.

And then those centralized control systems start to lose interest in gaining the support of their political adversaries.  Now they no longer need their support, so those in power can simply ignore, cancel, or use government power to persecute those who don’t support centralized power systems.  As President Biden has been explaining over the past few days.  Have we listened to what he said?

The debate about how best to manage government power has moved from a philosophical debate to a very real, very immediate problem.  So I think that Republicans should start emphasizing the points I listed above, and explaining to anyone who will listen that it is them against their government now.  It’s become too obvious to ignore.  Use the above list and similar ideas to point out the obvious to voters.

American citizens losing control of a tyrannical government is no longer a hypothetical possibility.  As President Biden has been explaining to anyone who will listen to him.  Have we been listening to what he said?  Have we been paying attention to how our government treats teachers’ unions and social media tycoons?  Our citizens need to understand what they’re up against.

And they should start acting like it.

Agree, Dr. B. Trying to come up with a simpler approach. They are stealing your money! To give to Cubans getting a free bus ride to D.C.! And to buy homeless tents in Portland!  And to teach Marines how to use the right pronouns instead of how shoot a rifle?  Sorry for the rant. Next time will work some inflati0n in there too.

I’d give Markie Zuckerberg so much central control that he goes full-gonzo Libertarian with tattoos of Murray Rothbard on one arm, Ludwig von Mises on the other, and Ayn Rand on his chest.

Dr. Bastiat: If Mexican-Americans voted Republican, do you think the Democrats would be this lax about border security?

The ones entitled to vote here legally (by virtue of being – you know – citizens) are starting to.

I would add the higher education – if higher education was run by the right, the left would frog march the presidents of the universities for the tuition cost.  The price of higher ed has exceed the rate of inflation for decades. If this was a commodity in the private sector, corporate media would make this a high priority item.

Compare how Elian Gonzelez was treated. Cuban Americans vote GOP – The Clintons and Corporate media were all for sending him back to Castro’s regime

Dr. Bastiat: I listed above, and explaining to anyone who will listen that it is them against their government now.

It is not so much them against their government as their government against them.
