Another Example of Idiocy on the Left

Are the editors of The Atlantic holding a contest this month for the most ridiculous take of the year? If so, one Dan Panneton may win the prize. He has penned this instant literary classic: “How Extremist Gun Culture is Trying to Co-Opt the Rosary.” Apparently, praying to ward off evil is as scary to a Leftist as is an AR-15. The lengths that idiots on the Left go to demonize us Catholics is mind-boggling. Satan is working overtime.

If you’re interested in reading more on how stupid this article is, my friend OneMadMom does a beautiful job of tearing it apart.

In any event, take the time to pray the Rosary on this Solemnity of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Happy Feast day.

I left The Church a long, long time ago, but when I read what these idiots are saying I feel more Catholic than I did when I was actually practicing. They are truly disgusting and as viciously bigoted as the worst Klan member ever was.

I wonder how The Atlantic feels about the war prayers that can be found in the Bible.

I have been listening to the Grace Force podcast off and on for the last couple of years, and find myself in agreement with Father Heilman  and Mr. Barry.  You can get the WWI rosary from Father Heilman, and self defense tips from Mr. Barry.  If this is what the Atlantic is warning the left about, then they are truly diabolically disoriented.

It’s fitting that this came to our attention on the Great Feast of The Dormition of Our Most Holy Lady, the Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary.

Apolytikion of Dormition of the Theotokos:

In birth, you preserved your virginity; in death, you did not abandon the world, O Theotokos. As mother of life, you departed to the source of life, delivering our souls from death by your intercessions.

Kontakion of Dormition of the Theotokos

Neither the grave nor death could contain the Theotokos, the unshakable hope, ever vigilant in intercession and protection. As Mother of life, He who dwelt in the ever-virginal womb transposed her to life.

So the patron Saint of handguns is pretty awesome

After freeing a young woman from would-be rapists, St. Gabriel Possenti confronted the onrushing brigands waving revolvers. At that moment, Possenti fired at a lizard that happened to be running across the road and dispatched it with one shot. Thus having demonstrated his excellent handgun marksmanship, he was able to take command of the situation and ran the now-frightened brigands out of town.

St. Gabriel Possenti performed this feat of courage without causing physical harm to a single human being.

St. Gabriel Possenti died in 1862. He was canonized by Pope Benedict XV in 1920.

I think it is time that we start defining leftist symbols as hate symbols, starting with the rainbow, pajama bottoms and Starbucks coffee cups.

    Can’t. Leftists monopolized the practice.

The Irish state’s tax payer funded propeganda wing. Some would call it a national broadcaster though.

I am happy that we have so assimilated Italian-Americans we can make fun of them. We are almost there with Asian-Americans. Godspeed.

David French and Tom Nichols both write for the Atlantic.

FWIW David French is not a Catholic; to the best of my knowledge he’s an Evangelical of some flavor (don’t know which one). As such, I doubt he has anything to do with a Rosary (or prayer rope, used in the Orthodox Church) and possibly thinks prayers to the Saints are idolatry/blasphemous.

David French has been demonizing Evangelical Christians instead; VTK was probably just pointing out what type of people French and Nichols are in cahoots with, for those who haven’t been paying attention.

Yes – French is not Catholic. So I don’t see the significance of him writing for the Atlantic.

Simply that French willingly writes for the magazine that produces this type of material (where he frequently makes analogous claims about Evangelical Christians).

Perhaps the Atlantic should change the name of the magazine to the Klanlantic.
