The Raid Heard ‘Round the World

By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April’s breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood,
And fired the shot heard round the world.

The foe long since in silence slept;
Alike the conqueror silent sleeps;
And Time the ruined bridge has swept;
Down the dark stream which seaward creeps.

On this green bank, by this soft stream,
We set today a votive stone;
That memory may their deed redeem,
When, like our sires, our sons are gone.

Spirit, that made those heroes dare,
To die, and leave their children free,
Bid Time and Nature gently spare
The shaft we raise to them and thee.

— The Concord Hymn by Ralph Waldo Emerson

The “shot heard round the world” referenced a moment that was an seminal moment in history where a subject people decided to be free. The Raid Heard Round the World is a seminal moment when a free people are intended to become subjects.

Tell every (R) you know to do what they can to make sure this ends now. Fascism has arrived in America and if we do not stand now we will kneel forevermore.

    This is the kind of bizarro-world action that reinforces claims that this administration wants an excuse to declare martial law before the election in order to shut it down.

    They warned us that if Trump was elected we’d get an authoritarian police state, and they were right.

    First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

    Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.

    Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

    Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

    I read elsewhere that the GOP Presidential primaries are now over because of this, and Trump should announce he’s running NOW. Also many who were wavering in their support for Trump are now in his camp. Plus, someone is going to try to “take him out”, permanently. The fear, hatred, and anger felt for one man……

    Yes, fear.  What can they fear?  They can rig elections so he never gets elected — what is he, or what can he possibly have that they fear so?

    That might easily depend on what they have to fear.  There are things a president can do and have access to that an ex-president cannot.

    I don’t see why it’s such a big deal. Putin conducted raids on the main leader of his opposition, Alexei Navalny, and has him in prison now. Viktor Yanukovich conducted raids on a firm associated with his predecessor in the office of Ukrainian prime minister, and had her put in prison. How are those raids any different from this raid on Trump’s home? It’s not as though this is anybody’s first rodeo.   Get a grip, people.

    So to justify the raid, the story is being fashioned that Trump held nuclear secrets that would enable some Evil Empire to hold sway over America.

    (As though the Evil Empire of Gates/Fauci/Tedros has not already done that for over 2 years.)

    But here is the actual law on the classifying of nuclear documents:

    Additionally, if Trump held “nuclear secrecy”  documents posing a threat to peace, justice and the American Way, why did it take the FBI some 19 months to go after him and get them?

    This is a good story.  The can claim he had “nuclear secrecy” documents but we can not let anybody see because the are “nuclear secrecy” documents.  All they need is one piece of paper that slightly leans toward nuclear and they got him.  Jail him and take away any chance he has to run again.

    Just recall that the “nuclear secrets” spin did not occur until after the pundits highlighted the President’s declassification authority. They had to go with nuclear secrets because that is classified by statute and not the President’s authority. The referenced provision does not mean that the President has declassification authority of nuclear information per se, it only means he can determine which classification regime applies. But that is only in the case of a dispute between the Atomic Energy Commission (now Department of Energy) and the Department of Defense as to whether it is “Restricted Data” (nuclear weapons design information) or “Formerly Restricted Data” (nuclear weapons deployment/delivery information). The reasons the word “formerly” is inserted is because between 1946 (when the Atomic Energy Act was initially created) and 1955 (when the Act was amended), the military did not have authorization to access any information about nuclear designs and function. They got the devices with instructions but not insight. The 1955 amendment changed that by moving some information “formerly” restricted only to the Atomic Energy Commission to the a classification that authorized cleared military personnel to access it.
