Quote of the Day: Revolutionaries

“In a time of deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” – Eric Blair (George Orwell)

Today is Eric Blair’s 119th birthday, and this quote seems particularly apt for today.  Especially after watching the left and the mainstream media twist the truth in their reporting on Dobbs and Bruen, the Supreme Court decisions reversing Roe v. Wade and New York’s “may issue” law.

We do live in a time of deceit. It is the standard tool of the left. That makes us, on the right, revolutionaries. We tell the truth — to the best of our abilities. Not universally, but generally more often than not. And we are hated for it.

My advice? Be proud revolutionaries. Speak the truth and take the consequences. The tide seems to be turning in our favor. But it can easily reverse if we do not press our cause now. We have had two tremendous victories in as many days. We need to follow through.

Adding this to my collection of quotes.  Do you know the details of the source?

Not any more.  Used to, but it’s been a while since I collected it. I believe it was in one of his essays.

It is unclear whether or not Orwell ever said that. According to Wikiquote, “No source for this quote among Orwell’s writings has yet been located” which is disappointing because it is both apt and pithy. A google search does not even return hits at the comprehensive Orwell.ru archive.

The tide is turning in our favor if we have reasonably honest elections.  Why do we think that will occur?  The people who run matters for the Democrats are totalitarian.  If that happens what do we do? They just have to keep one seat more in the Senate and House.  The Presidency they’ll justify stealing if Trump is the candidate.   They successfully stole the last election and didn’t have anywhere near the power or time they have now.   If Trump isn’t the candidate Trump voters may stay home, or make enough noise so the media can lie that they did stay home.  We have to come to grips with the reality that the folks running matters are totalitarian and most Democrats are fools enough to believe them.

In the final analysis, because the tide will be large enough they cannot cheat enough to turn it. If they do, it will be completely obvious to everyone.  At that point, that is what the Second Amendment is for. To redress those types of iniquities.

Remember, freedom does not come free and the tree of liberty must be renewed with the blood of tyrants and patriots. Jefferson was not speaking metaphorically when he wrote that.

A genuine Orwell quote which covers more or less the same ground:

“We have now sunk to a depth at which the restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men.”

–from Orwell’s review of Power: A New Social Analysis by Bertrand Russel in The Adelphi (January 1939)
