Does the Biden Administration Intentionally Go Out of Its Way to Hire Stupid People?

Someone (possibly Jim Geraghty at National Review) recently offered up the opinion that Obama’s “E Team” (those left after the A, B, C, and D teams had left the White House over two terms) were Biden’s “A Team.” Clearly in the Biden Administration, we are not getting “the best and brightest.” Does the Biden Administration intentionally hire stupid people, or is the problem that only stupid people will work for the Biden Administration?

I am posting this because of a story so idiotic it would be unbelievable, but we have seen so much idiocy at the Biden Administration, maybe it’s true (and not Babylon Bee).

The Secretary of Education (Miguel Cardona) reportedly said arming teachers was a stupid idea because, in his mind, doing so would require giving the teacher’s substitute the gun if the armed teacher was absent. Is anybody really so stupid as to come to the conclusion of what the Secretary of Education is saying?

The new press secretary (Karine Jean-Pierre) demonstrates daily that she is an idiot. Her predecessor, Jen Psaki, lied almost every time she opened her mouth, but at least she made an effort to be convincing in her lies. Ms. Jean-Pierre is just plain incompetent. She rarely has an answer of any kind, even to questions that can be anticipated. And the answers she does give are clearly scripted and rarely relevant to the question asked.

The now-approved-but-not-yet-seated Supreme Court justice who was selected for her race and sex (Ketanji Brown-Jackson) demonstrated in her Senate hearings that she is not intellectually curious enough, nor mentally facile enough, to be a proper Supreme Court Justice. Surely among black women lawyers and judges there was someone with greater intellectual curiosity and capacity than Ms. Brown-Jackson.

But an Education Secretary who thinks that a proposal to let willing teachers carry firearms requires that the teacher’s substitute carry that same firearm is a special kind of stupid.

Is the Biden Administration intentionally hiring stupid people, or is their problem that only stupid people are willing to work in this administration?

His relevant comment: “Listen, we need to make sure we’re doing sensible legislation, making sure our schoolhouses are safe as much as possible. But to say that we’re going to arm teachers to protect students? What happens when a teacher goes out on maternity leave? Are we going to give the substitute of the day a gun?”

So it’s more like BHO’s habit of inventing ridiculous straw men so that he could knock them down.

It seems like the most credible explanation for the stupidity of Biden admin hires is the necessity to not upstage Biden, which is a ridiculously low bar.  But I doubt Biden himself is responsible for it, he’s not smart enough or aware enough.  It’s certainly being done by others, who think they’re somehow protecting him.

In general, when BHO was elected I expected the Clintonistas to all show back up.  But BHO and Valerie Jarrett had an entire cast of people vastly more inept than the Clinton crew.  And here is President Brandon with the leftovers from that untalented bunch.  Why expect anything better?

The Alinskyite progressives view everything as a public performance to gain a response.  Showing us stupid and inept people, the more garish, the better, is an intentional affront.  It is a post-modern power play, wherein the uglier, stupider, more ridiculous, more infuriating — the better.

It’s consistent enough that it is at least a background goal — not the main goal in any majority of cases — just a necessary condition for filling an appointment.

Yes, it is intentional.  none of these people are actually calling the shots.

Propaganda works because propaganda works.  That is not a tautology.  Even when you know it’s propaganda, even when you see right through it — it still works.  The more a power can say things which make no sense, and have your friends, neighbors, co-workers defend, repeat, and enforce those things — the more you understand the power relationship at a visceral level.

When they kick in your door, shoot.

In another post, I had commented to the effect that we should have:

“The Kamala Harris Memorial* Biden Administration Failing Upward**  Weekly ***Award”.

*So named to give other less unworthy candidates a chance at the award.

**Previously named “The ____ Administration Peter Principle Award”. But, the Peter Principle requires the person to have previously exhibited competence at lower level positions. In the Biden Administration, perhaps drawing inspiration from President Biden himself, the dynamic is more failing upward than Peter Principle.

***What had long been a yearly award in Republican administrations, and monthly in Democrat, has become weekly so as not to deprive so many unworthy candidates of recognition.

If you could change it from Award to Participation Award, the left might actually get on board.  They can be pretty stupid that way.

The Biden administration is reminiscent of fascist Italy, where government officials and military officers were chosen for their political conformity, not for their expertise. This was a very important factor behind Italy’s various failures.

    This is straight outta Orwell.

They don’t have to believe that 2 + 2 = 5. But they can get you to repeat it. And if they can get you to the point where you start to doubt 2 + 2 = 4, even for a moment, they’ve won the battle. You will learn to love Big Brother.

Exactly.  This is the monstrous thing about it, and the ACTUAL MESSAGE that Orwell made in that book and in his other writings:  This is just how people are.

They don’t even need everybody to believe it.  They just need enough to start enforcing it.  Some will believe it, of course, but that’s optional.

So, back to the premise. Is the Biden administration full of imbeciles, or do they merely say imbecilic things as an expression of the power they have, to rub in our faces the fact that the power they wield means they can tell utter lies and behave in a completely destructive manner, and nobody will ever hold them to account?

When some absolute coconut says that January 6th was worse than 9/11, I question whether the coconut himself believes it, or whether that’s simply the regime mantra that 1) must be repeated in order to be seen as regime-approved, and/or 2) an expression of the prestige and position one holds that gives them the power to say completely asinine things and never have to answer for it.

Are the members of the Biden administration stupid or malicious? I’m going with malicious. The seeming stupidity isn’t even a cover. It’s how they express that they think we’re stupid, and also how they demonstrate the power they hold — power that allows them to say patently stupid things while still remaining in their positions over us.

They lie. We know they lie. They know we know they lie. And that’s why they do it. To demonstrate power.

The power to lie knowing that nothing will come of it.

But that still seems to require a degree of intelligence and self-awareness that they don’t really seem to have.

The question is well-formed — the administration and the people it hires may well be treated as two largely separate sets.  The “administration” is a literal cabal in the shadows, while the hapless figures it puts forward are intentionally offensive hipsters, stupid and arrogant, smug and ugly.  Piss you off?  It’s supposed to.

College isn’t about learning. It’s paying to receive credentials.

Learning, if it happens, is an accident.

Maybe they aren’t stupid? Maybe they are genetically high-I.Q. but college makes them stupid. I think that’s scarier.

No matter what department you work for in this administration, you must have had a demonstrated commitment to climate change to have a chance at an interview. If your field of candidates is made up solely of credentialed climate activists, you might not have a qualified Treasurer in the bunch. As long as you have that zeal in your bones, you can learn the education biz or the agriculture or energy markets or military or international diplomacy business on the job. Everybody’s job title is actually Director of Aggressively Draconian Measures to Save Gaia. If they get asked about anything outside of their actual qualifying calling, you might get stupid.
