Banning Hamburgers: Gas-Powered Cars
If a liberal observes that rich people are eating steak, while poor people are eating hamburgers, the obvious solution is to ban the hamburger. It sounds silly, but if you apply this rule, for example, to the minimum wage for teenagers, it all comes into focus. It is “obvious” that people should not be underpaid — and so we must forbid low-paying jobs. Steak or bust.
Do-gooders doing evil is hardly a new phenomenon. New immigrants to the United States in 1900 could find a place to drop their heads for seven cents a night. It was not remotely nice, but it was cheap. The average hourly wage was 20 to 30 cents, meaning that a person could sleep for 20 minutes of work. Think about that: Can you imagine having a bed to sleep on for a few bucks?
I wrote the above some years ago, here. All about housing codes.
But it is clear that this trend continues – the EU is going to ban the sale of “hamburger” gas-powered cars, forcing everyone to buy the “steak” of electric vehicles.
I am sure it will end well.

Morons.
Intent on destroying modern society with all of its benefits.
California is trying to do that while also warning of rolling blackouts. Because electric cars run on . . . ?
Coal. Dirty, dirty coal.
I am all for banning the west coast.

If You’re Reading This Message, You’re Ready to Resist Tyranny
The media joined with Big Tech and public education has provided our young generations with just one side of the view of our world. It is largely a fabrication and much of it is false. The attraction of technology has made this possible in this Information Age, communication being the main element in the process. We will lose our liberty if we cannot find a way to present a true and complete story, i.e. “the big picture”.
This explains why Elon Musk’s effort to takeover Twitter and stop censorship is so welcome by those who understand what the stakes are.
An older version of the same thinking:
“Let the poors drive electric cars” is the Democrats’ modern version of that.
I should also have mentioned Jordan Peterson as a strong public advocate of non-censorship of the people’s right to speak their thoughts.
Did she tell how much that trip cost? There must be some data somewhere that shows what it cost to charge the battery for a trip in an electric vehicle. And then there is the capital cost of the vehicle. It’s not free just because she didn’t have to stop for gas.
Politicians are not known for their intelligence.
Americans are fine that she can do what she did. They are being denied by federal executive branch edicts transportation they can afford that relies on supplies of gasoline.
I mean, Mayor Pete says stupid stuff like that all the time? Can’t afford $5.00/gal? Just spent 40K on an electric car!
These people are stupid, evil, or most likely both.
Watch out for Cash For Clunkers 2.0
Surprised that hasn’t already been floated.
Or has it?
Yeah, let’s send the price of used cars even higher to make sure those flyover yokels can’t go anywhere.
Dictators generally outlaw travel to keep the proles in line. But you don’t have to go that far if you just make travel punitive (high fuel prices) or limited (public transport).
The Biden Administration must be removed from power.
Politicians are good at survival; a trait they share with rats and roaches.
Marie Antoinette’s line “let them eat cake” was in response to a law that set a maximum price for regular bread but allowed bakers to charge what the market would bear for brioche. Bakers were baking both, but would run out of the low-profit regular bread. She thought that the brioche should be available for the same price as the regular bread if the bakers ran out of the former.
Typical liberal solution to a problem they themselves had instigated.
The higher ethanol just mandated will create clunkers rather quickly.
I want to know how I can tell if the gas I’m pumping into my car has that garbage.
It is supposed to be labeled on the gas pump, if it has ethanol and what percent. I have seen 10%, 12% 15% and E-85
E88 is the high-ethanol stuff by us, only to be used in certain engines.
The “regular” seems to be 10% ethanol, but I don’t always see that noted. Now that the Biden Regime is mandating 15%, I want that pointed out.
Not exactly!
My point is that they outlaw the cars poor people can afford. They don’t really want the poor to drive electric cars – or eat steak!
Reference to the post above mine. It’s the modern version of “Let them eat cake.”
15% ethanol is only allowed to be sold during certain times of the year. I think not in summer. Biden is allowing this to be sold past the normal deadline. He did not mandate sale of 15% just allowed it. Rather than doing anything actually useful about gas prices.
Labeling is controlled by States and you are supposed to know if you are getting gas with 15%

And with Biden’s inflation, steaks now have anti-theft devices attached. . .
Well yes, and it’s simple and we can include New York City in the process. We’re going to be forced to do it if Democrats succeed in stealing the next election. Leave, any capita city that doest want to join can stay and attach itself to other capital cities that don’t want to leave but we are still free people and lose that only if we allow them to steal the next election. They did it last time when we controlled the White House and most Republicans think it was won honestly.
I’m thinking that many young people have little awareness of what is taking place now. A very drastic and visible action may be required to get their attention. Know that I am not saying getting their attention means they will understand anything.
Tardigrades.
I always get tardigrades confused with nudibranchs.
Keep a careful eye on Pete Buttigieg. He is using his office of Secretary of Transportation to do events all over the country (my estimate is an average of 2 a day. YouTube has several dozen videos of his appearances). My hunch is that Pete used his parental leave to lay out his run for President. He is using the opportunities and resources that heading the Department of Transportation provides in a run for 2024 or 2028.
