Interpreting Sunny Hostin on ‘The View’

There was a headline that caught my attention on Gateway Pundit: “Racist Sunny Hostin of ‘The View’ Lectures Guest Host Saying ‘Black Republicans are an Oxymoron’ and She Doesn’t ‘Understand Black and Latino Republicans.’” Gateway offers a lot of red meat on the website, so I don’t always expect that the article that follows will be a full and fair disquisition of what happened. But this article was a pretty straightforward statement of what The View cast member Sunny Hostin had to say:

ABC’s The View host Sunny Hostin gave racist and disparaging remarks to Lindsey Granger, a black Republican, saying “black Republicans are an oxymoron,” and she didn’t “understand” Black or Latino Republicans during Friday’s broadcast.

Hostin, who is an attorney and whose career as prosecutor and Court TV analyst, is no dummy. But somehow being cast on The View seems to lower one’s IQ. But often what appears to be unintelligent is in reality a very different frame for seeing life. And so it appears with Ms. Hostin.

She seems to have really bought into the four basic tenets of Critical Race Theory: Everything is to be seen through the lens of race. White people are inherently and irredeemably racist. All institutions that were started by white people are racist. Only white people can be racist. With this frame in mind, the Republican Party was started by white people and is therefore racist. (The fact that the Democratic Party was also started by white people and actually enacted Jim Crow laws and opposed the Civil Rights Act seems to escape her.) Why would any black person want to be associated with the Republican Party, she thinks. She doesn’t “understand” Black or Latino Republicans because she can’t leave her CRT frame.

There is a fifth unstated tenet of CRT: Any inconsistency between logic and a CRT-framed assertion is to be resolved in favor of CRT dogma. Otherwise complete and total segregation would be the answer and white liberals would not be followed and supported by people of color.

These people work very diligently to avoid two things, logic in reasoning and any acknowledgement 0f the divine sovereignty of the individual human being. They are truly pitiful examples for others.

It seems that the whole point of The View is to energize a voting bloc by shouting the craziest anti-American talking points while creating the illusion of a mob behind them with the APPLAUSE sign lighting up at just the right moments.

Better to watch the anti-View, “Outnumbered”.   Actual accomplished women, intelligent discussions, no rabid mob.

(And much prettier… a sexist would say.)

It was a brilliant business move for Fox News to offer an alternative.

Hostin used to be a fairly good commentator back in her Court TV days, when she was talking about criminal prosecutions, but she really ought to have stayed in that “lane,” instead of revealing the shallowness of her “intellect.”

    Jackie Robinson was a Republican.

Wilt Chamberlain (the greatest center, sorry Bill Russell) was a Republican.

I hear watching The View tends to rot the brain. I won’t risk it.

Apparently, that 79-year old sex symbol Joy Behar advocated a sex strike the other day.

    All men everywhere said Yes!!

It is amazing how hard the left tries to destroy Black Conservative jurists, public figures, and politicians.   Latin Conservatives also.   And no one in power comments about it.    The Republicans do a woefully inadequate and half hearted job of protecting minority conservatives.

    it’s not about protecting

Too many Republicans are concerned with being civil or polite

We have to punch back or down or up or whatever angle you can imagine

    Civility like sincerity is overrated

In fact most sociopaths are civil

Conservatives and Republicans should take every opportunity to discuss real Black history – a history of oppression and betrayal by Democrats.

You make more money in the media business if you lie or contort your beliefs etc.

Every single institution is failing from a conservative or libertarian point of view.

The point is to have organized support behind election fraud.  It worked last time even for most Republicans but this time it will have to be even more blatant and extreme to pull it off.  Still, the only democrats I know will vote democratic spite of the radicals trying to destroy our country.   They just think they’re a radical extreme and that old fashion democrats are really still in charge.

Interpreting Sunny is as simple as reviewing the show’s demographic data.  They are selling a product, via narrative.  It will always be irrational, simplistic, and ignorant, because the truth (or big chunks of it) run counter to the narrative.

The accusation of “racism” is a tool for the weak minded, and it is generally used as an excuse for failure. “Racism” is intentionally used to divide with the intent to conquer.

Why does anybody bother to cite comments on The View? Those ladies are the Special Olympics of opinion journalism.

Hoskins was entirely honest about not understanding non-white Republicans. This is purely a matter of significant cognitive and intellectual limitations. It is superfluous to analyze these remarks in terms of elements of CRT.

It is hard to find phrases that are more irritating than “Scientists say …” or “Study finds …”. Still, I found one article that began with the latter phrase interesting. The claim was that conservatives can understand liberal viewpoints while disagreeing strongly, but liberals can’t even understand conservative viewpoints. They just reflexively disagree. I have my own opinion about why that is, but that’s not important now.

If Sunny can’t comprehend a Black or Latino Republican, just guess what her opinion of white Republicans might be. Someone should ask her.
