A Couple of Thoughts on the Biden MiniTrue

Thought the First:  Isn’t this just typical? This Ministry of Truth the Brandon Administration is setting up represents the ruling class’s belated recognition that people no longer trust the state or the state-aligned corporate media. In their minds, this is because people are making unfair criticisms of the Government on social media, and they have to set up an institution to counteract the Narrative. It never occurs to them that the actual problem is that the Government really is corrupt and incompetent, much less are they inclined to do anything to fix the real problem. Not even Republicans — who often campaign on “draining the swamp” — have any real inclination to do so. Even Republican Congresses under Republican presidents have never eliminated a single agency, never cut a budget, never even imposed any basic measures of accountability on Deep State bureaucracies.

Thought the Second. It isn’t going to work. The “Disinformation Governance Board” is essentially being set up as a taxpayer-funded Politifact.  Like Politifact, its mission is going to be to defend the administration and the preferred Narrative of the Democratic Party.  Ultimately, every attempt by the Ministry of Truth to reinforce the administration narrative is going to be either immediately fact-checked (“For four years I was a full professor at the University of Pennsylvania,”) or ultimately proven wrong (“Hunter Biden’s laptop is Russian disinformation.”) It is starting from a position of zero credibility, and can only go downhill from there.

It will work.  It will be set up and the force of law will make media and social media bend knee to it.

The ‘Ministry of Truth’ will be a cudgel to coordinate with the MSM on the ‘correct’ messages that must be repeated. The democratic committees can’t, using all their MSM powers of persuasion, seem to get people to ignore the cost of living increases, the gas prices, skyrocketing crime, the disaster that is the Southern boarder and inflation that is eating their life savings soooo, they are going to build a message MACHINE like the MACHINE for Climate Change that can’t be questioned.

If the ‘Ministry of Truth’ says something is ‘false’ then the MSM can tell everyone that authorities have spoken, not broaching any descent. If the story is ‘true’ then repeat process.

Now the ‘Ministry of Truth’ can claim that without ‘evidence’ that the Hunter Biden’s laptop is a ‘false narrative’ then the MSM can yell at the top of their electrical lungs ‘its been verified by the Ministry of Truth, end of story!’ If you continue to talk about it then you obviously are a reactionary, you want to overthrow the government because you won’t support it as you should, you should be investigated, silenced and if needed quietly disposed of… life ruined, so to speak.

Nice ‘circle of truth’ you have there. And with such a circle, think noose shape, then what can stop the NSA, FBI, DOJ from ‘investigating’ you for going against the governments narrative from the ‘Ministry of Truth’.

    Just like settled science.

I kind of like it.  A convenient one-stop source to identify all the news that the Dems / MSM are trying to suppress.  It will help me find the things I should be reading.  Cool.

Could we see another instance of the law of unintended consequences here?  The Dems nuked the filibuster on judicial appointments, and look what happened.  It seems to me that they’ve created a tool for us to use against them.

It’s wrong and I don’t like it.  But it’s time to give back to them 2X or 3X what they attempt on us, in kind.  This doesn’t mean be wild-eyed crazy, or outlandish, but a quiet determined aggressiveness is key.    The evidence I see is that more and more GOP politicians get that.  I think we are approaching the point where a critical mass of them will, which will pull the others along.  Will there always be “mavericks”, or “squishes”?  Yes, in some cases that’s a function of their constituency.

But the tenor and dynamic will change to comprise only to take 1 step back, after taking 2 steps forward.  In the past, that ratio has been reversed.  Now we are nearing a time where the 2:1 ratio can be in our favor.  Don’t confuse tactical retreat, for giving in/up.  Also, accept that not everything will happen at once, and there will be “events”.    Determined, ruthless, disciplined patience is key for winning the long game.

That is the plan but it really can’t succeed.  The people inclined to believe the Ministry of Truth already believe the MSM narrative and the people they need to convince already distrust the government media information complex.  Plus there is no way a single case like this survives 30 seconds in Federal District Court and every bit of the conservative media infrastructure will be aching to file suit the moment someone misbehaves.

That’s my hope. That this will strengthen the notion of free speech absolutism at the level of the courts and elsewhere.

And we really should keep calling it the “Ministry of Truth” (or maybe corrupt it with Ministry of Truthiness to get the point across) and someone should make a remake of 1984 to get it (back) into the popular culture. DailyWire?

This doesn’t occur to them. Since they control elections, a Republican will never be elected again.

Alternatively, they know that a Republican president will never disband MiniTrue, and the bureaucrats embedded there will still control the Narrative.

Not a lawyer, but don’t they need some form of statutory authority to set up something this consequential? And doesn’t funding for it need to be authorized by the Congressional authorization and appropriations process? That might be a basis for a legal challenge to its creation.

I don’t even see a philosophical problem with, for instance, teaching children that socialism is opposed to civilization, not even with laws requiring it be taught in government schools. Let alone a moral or practical problem. Civilizations have a duty, not merely a right, to pass on their values. Those that don’t deserve to die.
