The Disgraceful Lia Thomas
I’ve written elsewhere about this fellow, the guy who poses as a woman and crushes the hopes and dreams of real female college athletes. Finally one woman has come out publicly to complain about it, as reported in this blunt but excellent piece in the Spectator:
Reka Gyorgy showed commendable courage this weekend for finally speaking out against the National College Athletic Association’s rules regarding trans competitors. The Virginia Tech swimmer and Olympian was bumped out of a finals spot in the 500 free due to transgender University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas’s participation.
I applaud her for having the guts to use her real name when challenging the debased orthodoxy. I’m sorry that she still felt compelled to pay lip service to Mr. Thomas, express her support for him, etc. But coming out opposed to this travesty of competitive justice is long overdue, and I’m glad to see it beginning.
I will continue to assume that Mr. Thomas suffers from some pretty serious psychiatric disorders, and that’s why he behaves so abominably and is so utterly devoid of pride, self-respect, and consideration for his teammates.
On a positive note, he and people like him will, I expect, finally turn the tide of public opinion away from the destructive foolishness that is the so-called “trans” movement.

Imagine what would happen if all the other women in the competition refused to participate. This stuff would stop immediately. It’ll take a bunch of women with more balls than “Lia” to stop this.
From your lips to G-d’s ears.
Who will give the first sit-down sympathetic interview? It’s got to be coming.
I agree with you that someone will eventually do an interview. But the fact that the usual suspects have so far demurred, I wonder if even the major news outlets view a sit-down interview as too toxic.
Yes …. when women choose to participate in women’s competitions where a male is allowed to compete, everyone(ie: NCAA, Universities, coaches, and female competitors, and the fans who attend or watch on television) tacitly accepts/condones females competing head to head against males.
If you sincerely believe this is wrong, and tantamount to legalized cheating excused by some bizarro world woke-ism, then you should not participate, don’t show up and explain you believe men competing against women is cheating.
Let the NCAA hold as many women’s competitions with essentially one competitor and hundreds of NCAA workers running the competitions, in an expensive venue, with no coaches, no competitors, and no fans in the stands, and telecasts with no television viewers.
In the 1970’s and 1980’s it was discovered some Olympic East German and Soviet female weight lifters and track and field shot putters were actually secretly biological males, and these competitors were tossed from the competition for cheating obviously ….. who would have guessed the Soviet bloc communist cheaters were simply 40 years too early with their scam.
Where are the adults? I realize these college women are technically adults, but it seems like it should be parents and coaches standing up for them. It’s quite a burden for the female athletes who are young, surrounded by a culture that encourages trans ideology, and who aren’t likely to choose social condemnation. Young women are less likely to be contrarians than young men who might relish the fight.
She did so on her Twitter account as well and was promptly suspended.
I can’t believe you missed this deeply soul touching, heartfelt, tender interview. I am only aware because I saw a reference to it, I refuse to read it.
That would be ideal. However, it’s asking a lot of a young college athlete to abandon his or her participation in order to make a point, particularly given that he or she is going to be excoriated, ostracized, and stigmatized. They’re victims in this; the rest of us should be fixing the culture.
I can see that. However, the NCAAs have provided a catalyst that was not previously present. It’s also possible Thomas did not want the distraction, but now it’s time to promote the brand.
I wonder if the young women will realize that if he is competing, they aren’t going to win anyway. I realize that they just want to get in the line-up, but if they all refused to swim against him, it would send a very powerful statement. I agree with Lilly B, too: get those parents and coaches yelling!
Yes. That’s what I’d like to see. Gonna have to disrupt the system in order to fix it.
That will not happen. There is prizes to be won. Glory to be won. Money to be made. So somebody will always show up for it. All stepping out does is remove that person from the spoils.
Look there is a governing body for this sport and that body has decided that this is acceptable for its sport. You can either play by the rules or not.
Personally I think we should just get rid of all sports by gender and just compete in classes. That way no argument. All people can compete that have the same weight / body size.
I believe that is true. Mental issues combined with activists who encourage such behavior. The real bad guys in this story are the schools and NCAA for not putting a stop this nonsense.
It runs deeper than that. Most of these young women have trained for years in their respective sports. It’s not hard for us to be on the side and say “take a stand.” But their window is small before moving on with life. I honestly don’t fault anyone who says “this is my moment and I’m going to do my best whether he’s here or not.”
The burden here is on the adults and governing bodies.
I have timed at lots of swim meets and have seen the difference between the best male and female 18&U swimmers (and often have felt the splash from the top male swimmers; the girls don’t fly off the block with the same force). Sadly, even 5-6 years ago, my daughters’ coach thought that trans athletes in swimming would be fine. And he was/is a religion teacher at a Catholic school. Maybe people like that can be shamed into realizing their folly or at least not publicly supporting these trans jerks.
One of my problems with the Catholic Church is there does not seem to be a Leftist cause they do not like to incorporate into their thinking.
Interesting. Is it possible that a print interview is safer for the outlet than a long-form video interview? I’ve never heard Thomas speak, but I suspect that the longer people hear him speak, the more obvious it is that he’s not a woman. Print and still shots make it easier to hide reality.
I wish someone would just throw a clothesline around Lia’s neck and pour some bleach on him already.
Word is that some of the MSM are altering Thomas photos to make them look more feminine.
https://thepostmillennial.com/nbc-accused-airbrushing-photo-lia-thomas
And Thomas’ Dad.
He even looks like a dude in the “feminized” one. He’s got a condition that even photoshop can’t fix.
America’s Governor:
DeSantis Recognizes Female NCAA Athlete, Not Lia Thomas, as Top Women’s Swimmer
Hah. Looks like they even airbrushed out the goggle marks.
You would still have the same problems. The issue is what testosterone does for the the skeletal frame and muscular build of the body for the lifespan of the person. If you took a male and female of the same weight and sizeput them thru the same training program and had them compete with each other the male would win most if not all of the physical contests. Note that there are no persons who were born female and currently transitioning to male personas that are trying to compete in male dominated sports. Both of the Williams sisters when at the tops of their careers played trial matches with male pro tennis players, neither of whom were ranked above 100 and each of the Sisters got beat like a drum on the court…
Here’s a crazy idea.
Let’s have men’s and women’s divisions, and keep them separate.
Problem solved.
Well, not only did they remove the goggle marks they plucked his eyebrows, botoxed his neck and gave him some cleavage.
Are these swimming events televised? If so, the female swimmers need to boycott the events and refuse to participate. The NCAA or whoever is getting revenues from this may then step up. Unitil then, don’t expect it. Follow the money.
Yikes! It is “National Collegiate Athletic Association”. Should I read an article that gets that wrong?
