Putin’s Bittersweet Moment In Beijing
Vladimir Putin was invited to the opening ceremony for the Winter Olympics by President Xi Jinping. Russia is not competing as a nation this year due to a state-sanctioned doping scandal. They are competing as the ROC (Russian Olympic Committee). No Russian flags for any Russian medalists.
As the parade of nations entered the stadium with their flags, I was reminded of the unwrapping of Christmas gifts scene in the iconic movie, A Christmas Story. Ralphie’s little brother Randy exclaimed, “That’s mine, that’s mine” as he examined each package under the tree.
As the Ukrainian, Estonian, Lithuanian, Latvian, Poland, Georgia, Romanian, Czech Republic, Slovakian, and Hungarian flags passed into the stadium Putin was saying to himself; “That’s mine.” Finland should have been mine was the one exception, but I’ll give it a try someday.

He shouldn’t open them all at once, though. That would be greedy. He should open each one carefully, thank his benefactor, and take some time to enjoy it before moving on to the next.
Finland doesn’t exist.
Ok, I read the linked article.
What the heck was that?
Some weird internet thing I didn’t know about until I heard a Skeptoid episode on it. Much like the flat earth talk, I think it’s a bunch of guys trying to see what will be believed.
The real action on opening day was announced agreement be tween China and Russia. In just 1 year, Biden has managed to unite China, Russia, & Iran into a Axis that is able to control all of Eurasia.
They have a ways to go before they can match the Russia hoax.
Russia? You still believe in a Russia?
Ok – that was a sneaky work-around, going in as the ROC…… Yes he was opening presents until Ukraine and did you see him turn his head and look away? He’s always well aware of the camera. What gave me a jolt was seeing both Ping and he sitting side by side (with social distancing) like two emperors. It was a weird moment.
What a remarkable ability, to be able to read someone’s mind from halfway around the world. Someone thinking in a different language, no less.
Asking you to decipher that statement – don’t understand
They have united in their joint shadowy occupancy of Afghanistan. No surprise.
The leaders of these two countries have always been close and always will be. I read a couple of long books written the former secretary of education in China, Zhu Yongxin. I was surprised at how friendly these two countries are.
I don’t think successive presidents and secretaries of state managed the situation well. However, I agree with Kissinger that a need to insert ourselves somehow between these two countries was a very wise step to take.
