Elon Musk vs. Fake Indian Senator Lyin’ Lizzie Warren

Elon Musk Starship

Elon Musk’s Twitter Avatar: Starship.

Senator Lyin’ Lizzie Warren and her comrades on the left hate that Elon Musk was named Time’s Man of the Year. In the midst of their socialist makeover of America, she went to the classic commie play, class envy. It did not go well. As Steven Hayward observed, “Musk tweets even better than Trump.”

By way of background, Elon Musk had already asked people on Twitter whether he should sell 10% of his Tesla stock. He did so a month ago in response to earlier American Marxist moves to tax unrealized (paper) gains in the value of stocks and other assets. How about paying taxes on the estimated gain in value of your home, or your retirement fund, before you cash out by selling? That is the idea Elon Musk attacked on behalf of all of us.

“Much is made lately of unrealized gains being a means of tax avoidance, so I propose selling 10% of my Tesla stock,” he tweeted Saturday afternoon. “Do you support this?

With that background, here is the unrolled Twitter thread. Set your drink down before reading. Musk’s Twitter avatar is the SpaceX Starship, a cool retro-futuristic image of a cool prototype project aimed at the Moon and Mars. His Twitter feed is as bold and thoughtful as his grand terrestrial and space engineering programs. I have bolded the text and the number of likes, for ease of reading. Embedded quotes, linked to other sources, are italicized.

As Bloomberg reports, Elon Musk may pay more than $10 billion in federal taxes for 2021.

The world’s richest person and chief executive officer of Tesla Inc. could face a tax bill of more than $10 billion for 2021, if he exercises all his options due to expire next year, according to Bloomberg calculations. While it’s hard to say whether that would be a record — the Internal Revenue Service doesn’t publicly reveal individual tax filings — it would certainly rank as one of the biggest payments of all time.

[…]

Musk faces the unusually high tax bill after exercising almost 15 million options and selling millions of shares to cover the taxes related to the transactions. That was following a Twitter poll last month where he asked whether he should sell 10% of his stake in Tesla — shares of which have rocketed higher more than 2,300% in the past five years.

If so, I expect Elon Musk will publish that tax return, or at least the summary pages, for all to see, and challenge all the penthouse progressive billionaires to ante up, putting their own money where their mouths are. At the same time, he would be justified in pointing out that his “contribution” is not even a rounding error in the wild fiscal fantasy playing out in Washington. When Congress is summoning trillions of dollars out of thin air, ten billion is insignificant. It is only one percent of the first trillion conjured by Congress this year.

The bolded part isn’t quite true. It’s not legal for them to publicly reveal individual tax filings, so they do it by leaks to ProPublica, then stonewall and obstruct congressional efforts to investigate the leaks.

I was shocked that Time actually picked a man of the year that made sense. Musk deserves it (although the award has lost meaning).

That Warren would claim that Musk is “freeloading” is rich…

    Great tweets!

It’s pretty hypocritical for Senator Karen to attack Elon Musk for getting wealthy off exactly the system of subsidies for “Green Energy” that she herself champions. The Infrastructure and “Build Back Better” bills likewise contain hundreds of trillions of dollars in even more “Green Energy” subsidies; enough to create many more Elon Musks who are canny enough to push their way to the front of the trough.

That said, a Liz Warren – Liz Cheney ticket in 2024 would be interesting, do you not think? Fake Cherokee meets Fake Conservative Carpetbagger?

There is the productive class and there is (at best) the class of persons that aid the productive class in producing. As a lawyer I was always aware that I was not part of the productive class and that my value to society lay in facilitating and not retarding their work. Liz Warren is a leach on the productive class and deserves all the opprobrium that can be flung her way.
