Tribute to a Socialist
Socialist Kshama Sawant of the Seattle City Council faces a recall vote Tuesday, December 7. Despite the daunting task of gathering signatures and court challenges brought on by Sawant and her supporters, a recall effort was successful.
Even though the recall vote is uncertain, I thought a little parody theme song was in order, sung to the theme music to “Here Come the Brides.”
The foulest streets you’ve ever seen, in Seattle
With human waste, no one to clean, in Seattle
It’s no place for a child
With Antifa running wild
Full of needles and full of tents
Companies canceling their events
Dystopia it represents

This pretty much faded away, but I always thought that “head tax” they were trying to impose was really interesting. Washington is really screwed up because they don’t have an income tax and probably some other things which is compounded by the way the financial system is organized. They have a lot of problems basically because stock prices and real estate prices are going up because of inflationist policies.
So what they did was, they invented this head tax thing which was just nothing but seizing wealth based on the number of employees you had. Something like that. I forget exactly why it went away, if it was legal or legislative. My point is it just shows how screwed up everything is.

The cure for insanity is erasing history. Oh, you’re still insane its just that without knowledge of how often an idea has failed there is no warning to others of the consequences of implementing the idea beyond maybe a gut feel about it. But then, gut feels also rely on history, so a society is totally disarmed against disastrous ideas.
Nicely done satire, Mr. Postal Sage. I hope to see more of these kinds of things from you in the months ahead.
The Left is currently full of rich targets for satire, Mr. Postal Sage, so hit ‘em with wit, rhyme, and meter (as Swift and Pope did back in the day) whenever they try to foist their political foolishness on the rest of us.

Went back and corrected the spelling. Thanks, Quietpi. My speciality was 18th-century British, the age of satire (or saltire, if you wish).
They will likely replace her with someone who rejects immediate complete economic and social destruction and fervently believes it should be done more gradually.
Unfortunately, Seattle will not get any better in her absence. I’m not sure why they would even bother to vote on something like this.
The so-called “head tax” was originally known as the “Amazon Tax”. Sawant has a visceral hatred and envy of Amazon-to her way of thinking, no-one should make, or have so much money, regardless of how acquired. She was, and is, bound and determined to siphon off as much of Amazon and Bezos’s money as possible, so the City can use it for support of the “homeless” and other “underserved communities” in Seattle. Instead of an income tax, the state has a “Business and Occupation” tax, which is an unfair gross-receipts tax-the rates differ by industry and type of business, so the government can adjust rates, depending on whose is the favored group of the day/year. In the past, the car-tab tax brought in the majority of the funds that support state government, but when it was reduced by citizen initiative, the state was floundering around for more and more money.
As of now, 53% of the votes are in favor of the recall. However, this being corrupt Seattle, that could change. When she ran for re-election last time, she was about to be thrown out when the tide turned and she won a second term.
Does the Washington state Dem party still maintain a warehouse for storing late-discovered ballot boxes? Or is that only for governor’s races?
I’m sure they do, so it’s not safe to assume the recall will pass.
