La Science, C’est Moi

“You can safely assume you’ve created God in your own image when it turns out that God hates all the same people you do.” – Anne Lamont

This quote has been one of my guide stars for decades. Watch what happens when we replace just two words:

“You can safely assume you’ve created science in your own image when it turns out that it hates all the same people you do.”

    That’s brilliant! Thanks.

I have observed that through this pandemic, the “science” always dictates a policy or solution that exactly lines up with what the Democrats have been longing to do forever but couldn’t get passed because of the Constitution, among other things. Now they can, because Covid, and “Science”.

Would “global warming” be so enthusiastically supported if the solution was that you had to destroy your car and walk? Instead they say you should buy a Tesla – the dream car you’ve always wanted. Crisis averted!

They say that when it comes to Climate Change that “the science is settled”.  I say cut all research funding and fire any government employees working that science and we’ll see if they still claim “the science is settled”.  For Commies, “the science” is just a tool bring out their long-sought dystopia.

Good point.  If the “science” on man-made climate change is settled, then why do we need to spend one dime on research or studies to prove it?

Surveys show that a typical person is willing to spend about $1/month to avert the promised climate apocalypse.   People just don’t care.  But, climate change hoaxers and other commies have quietly doubled the cost of energy, which costs the typical person a hundred dollars per month.  This is a stealth tax on the lower classes and people should be way more upset.

And note I said “destroy your car”. It always cracked me up when my leftie friends would trade in their gas guzzler for a Prius.

“You traded it in??!  Then it’s still out there wreaking havoc on the environment! You might as well have kept it, for all the good you did.”

But then, that Prius is pretty cool, eh?

No sacrifice is too great to save the planet as long as I come out ahead from the “sacrifice”.

Fauci is a prophet in a bizarro cognitive reformation seeking to liberate science from the tyranny of data, math, empiricism, skepticism, and objectivity so we can instead bathe in the light of the Narrative as presented by vile mediocrities like Tony Two Masks and Rachel the Doomsayer.

It is a kind of sick linguistic miracle that “science” is now a bag of failed nonsense but noticing that fact is “anti-science.”

It has long been demonstrated that use of fossil fuels saves lives, enhances health, improves longevity, and coincides with the advent of the greatest prosperity and human well being in the history of the world.

The Heartland Institute has been shouting it from the rooftops for a decade or more.  With many joining the chorus, like WUWT.  Total silence from the mainstream media, for the obvious reason.  Inconvenient.

Anyone who advocates curtailing use of fossil fuels is advocating for human misery and death. The concern of the elites regarding fossil fuels use is not related to saving the planet, except to the extent that the human population can be culled. The fear of the elites is a fear of the human population that is seen as the greatest threat to the planet(see Ehrlich, Paul, the Population Bomb). One can compare the effort to curtail fossil fuel use by us humans as akin to the effort to cull the elk herd of the Yellowstone, which has included such atrocities as rounding up the herd and subjecting it to mass shooting slaughter, and introducing large Canadian wolves to the Yellowstone that kill elk for sport.

Yes. The globe has been warming for the last 11,000 years, since there was a mile thick of ice covering Rhode Island where I sit typing.  No one is completely sure about these ice ages, but they seem cyclical.  And the cycle seems to be at its top, and ready to switch to the other direction.

It has nothing to do with us, and what car we drive.  But I’df the warming is slowing down and the cooling is about to commence, maybe we want to push for all the warming we can get to extend the nice climate just a little bit longer?

Furthermore, we’re at a historically low point in terms of atmospheric CO2. We really can’t survive with much less. More CO2 means a greener earth and the ability to feed more people. (Which is probably why the proggies are against it.)

Actually we have nicely recovered from the lows of 200 years ago.  The CO2 levels were getting down near a dangerous level where life as we know it does not work on earth.  Large plants and animals would suffer first.   The decline is due to CO2 being permanently locked into limestone by sea life.  Lucky for the earth that humans came along to free CO2 from coal and limestone.  The coal comes from a time, when CO2 was captured by trees that could not be broken down by nature.  Before trees existed, no coal.  Once tree fibers could be broken down by a new fungus, no coal.

Yes, cold kills more than heat.  Yes, when the ice age resumes, that will an adaption challenge.

And it’s being speculated that “the reason that they released the omicron [or Omnichrom] variant down there is because the want to shut out South Africa.”

Also, I read excerpts from a lefty article about Omnichrom that said that those infected were from southern Africa, like several were from Nigeria.  What?!  Only a lefty would say Nigeria is in southern Africa.

Western, yes.  But southern?  He was thinking of all of sub-Saharan Africa as “southern”.  You don’t even need a globe for this, just knowing where Nigeria is.  :)

I have never forgotten reading The Deep Hot Biosphere, by Thomas Gold here at Cornell. He postulates many things, among them that petroleum is not “fossil fuel” in any way other than it is often discovered along side decayed plant life or whatever, and that this is a coincidence.

He suggests that petroleum was a byproduct of planetary formation, and that it is bubbling up here and there, like any other outgassing or volcanic release, or any other normal geologic effects.

That a clever and intelligent agency (us) (didn’t want “intelligent” to throw you off) could discover and make use of a substance which, when combined with an oxygen atmosphere, could be the greatest source of portable, storable, practically endless energy is an amazing thing.

And that by using it, we would be releasing carbon (and other things) back into the environment, as part of the natural functioning of planetary equilibrium, is no more far-fetched than their talk of Gaia. In fact it’s the same thing. Why are they so against our being a part of the Grand Design?
