Democrats Prefer to Fight Faux Foes and Ignore Real Ones

From day one, it was blindingly obvious to everyone, including China, that crossing Donald Trump was a bad idea.  Anytime anyone attacked him, he hit back twice as hard.  He often seemed to do this for sport, retaliating against unimportant people, like basketball players or actors, simply for the fun of it.  It was also obvious that Trump loves America, and considered it his responsibility to act on behalf of Americans.  These traits of toughness and love of country are much less obvious in Joe Biden.  And this has not gone unnoticed by, for example, China.  So China has understandably been much less interested in what America thinks about, well, anything.  Which has allowed China to do whatever it wants.  Which has created increasing tension around the world.

For some reason, President Biden has decided to have a ‘virtual summit’ with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, for our virtual president to discuss his concerns about China’s more aggressive recent actions.  Donald Trump, of course, did not need a summit to convince China that they should not cross him.  They knew already.  Just like they know already that they can cross President Biden all they want with no fear of repercussions.  They don’t need a summit to figure that out, either.

The idea of President Biden intimidating anybody – especially a thug like Xi Jinping – in a meeting of any kind is ludicrous.  Which I’m sure is as obvious to Biden and his handlers as it is to Xi Jinping.  The only way that President Biden could possibly convince Xi that he means business would be through direct military action.  Which is why wars are created by displays of weakness rather than strength.

What I find fascinating here, though, is that Biden appears to be indirectly acknowledging that China is not our friend.  Perhaps, even, our enemy.  This is quite an admission from someone who says that the greatest threat to America is white supremacists in rural American states.

How many militant white supremacists are there in America?  Very hard to say.  Some, I suppose.  But if there are more than a few hundred, they keep an astonishingly low profile.  And this low profile calls into question the “militant” part.  But whatever.

How many servicemen are in the Chinese military?  Around 2.2 million.  Plus untold millions of reserves.  And they do not keep a low profile.

So why do Democrats fret about the domestic threat of white supremacists that few people have ever encountered, while ignoring the obvious threat of a hostile Chinese military with clear imperialistic goals?

First, remember that Democrats openly state that their goal is to “fundamentally transform America” into something other than what it is now.  Democrats have moved from closet liberals to open socialists in the past several years, and socialism does not fit with our Constitution or our culture.  So before Democrats can build the socialist Utopia they dream of, they must first destroy American culture as it is now.  And they have been openly working at this for some years now.

China has similar goals to American Democrats.  They find American culture etc to be a threat to their dreams of world domination.  America is not an imperialistic country – we briefly took over Iraq, Afghanistan, and other hotspots in the interest of safety, but they gave those countries back to their people.  China does things a bit differently.

But they can’t build a Chinese Utopia across the world until they first destroy American culture as it is now.

The Democrats understandably feel that the enemy of their enemy is their friend.  So they minimize our natural conflict with the Chinese.

But anyone who seeks to grab power needs an enemy.  Preferably an enemy that poses no real threat.  So white supremacists are a reasonable alternative for the Democrats.  After all, who cares if you lose a few hundred votes in the next election?

All of this probably makes sense in the Democrat strategy meetings in the nice, secure conference rooms of nice, secure hotels.  Meetings that are run by Ivy League graduates who all believe the one-world kumbaya peace movement stuff they were taught from kindergarten through graduate school.  So they ignore the Chinese, and attack whatever straw man seems least threatening at the time.  Makes sense.

Until the Chinese notice.  Then, feces gets real.

Even Jimmy Carter eventually figured out that his fellow socialists in the Soviet Union were not his friends.  Jimmy Carter.

Will Joe Biden and his handlers figure this out in time?

Clarence Thomas and I are not optimistic…

Meetings like this have to happen occasionally, to keep the fragrant grease flowing.

Doing it virtually has some real advantages. First, President* Brandon can use a teleprompter, so there’s less danger that he’ll go off-script and say something that some competent adult hasn’t approved.

Secondly, China can just Venmo him the money. It’s all very efficient.

China has never been OUR friend, but it has not been clear until recently that China was an enemy of the globalist initiative. Xi’s recent statements on instating nationalist values to inform their policies places them in direct opposition to the global WEF or whatever is animating the destructive march towards a border less world. Biden and Obama are likely puppets of that, so of course the tenor will change.

China now joins the ranks of Russia, Hungary, Poland, and the Trump Right as enemies of that initiative.

Well, you obviously haven’t seen him look into the camera, squint his eyes, point his finger and yell at us.  I’m sure Xi will be shaking with fear (or mirth-might be hard to tell).

I don’t see that China has ever been anything but highly nationalistic. However, Xi benefits from the destruction of the West by the globalists, as do Putin and others, though not Poland or Hungary. I suppose you could call the WEF and others his useful idiots.

It certainly looks like they thought Clinton era trade and commerce policies would make China a center point in the global economy. China appeared to play along – and maybe Deng approved of that vision. Xi does appear to have a different idea.

Prior to the late 80s, China was a drag on the USSR and formed a counterpoint to them, even though they were communists as well.  There was this belief that once the people of communist countries got a taste of freedom, then they would renounce communism.  You could read that fantasy in the mid career Tom Clancy books that showed Russia becoming our friend.  What everyone missed was that it wasn’t communism that ruled those countries, it was authoritarianism that stomped on them.  With Russia, they replaced authoritarian communism with authoritarian criminals.  In China they replaced authoritarian communism with authoritarian corporatism (we’d call it fascism if we were honest with ourselves).  After all, if you run a Chinese business, then you better do what the party wants you to do, because it would be a shame if they had to take it away from you.

China is run by the CCP, a party that maintains absolute power. Party leaders can be capricious and vicious.  Party leaders use their near absolute authority to keep power but they also know that this can end, as it did with the party leaders, including Mao’s wife, executed for the atrocities associated with the cultural revolution.  America is a customer and a rival.  The US is their most important export market.  Wealth in China is very much invested in US equities, debt and real estate.  So long-term economic stability in the US is vitally important to China.  Biden’s policies are obviously hurting the US economy and outlook and this must cause China to pause and reflect.  They probably believe that we will self correct, but it does give China an opportunity to finally reclaim Taiwan, something that they have wanted to do for many decades.  But I don’t think they really want a weak US or a war.

I lived in the Bristol area for nearly 25 years.  Not in Bristol itself, but way out in the sticks, a half hour from Elizabethton.

I never encountered a white supremacist, although there may have been some around that I never found, I guess.

You’d see the occasional Confederate flag.  One of my friends had one hanging inside the window of his single-wide, as a curtain.  You could see it from the road.  One night when I was at his place drinking, I asked him about it.  He basically said that he didn’t like being told what to do, and viewed that as a sort of rebellion.  I told him that just made him a redneck, not a rebel.  His girlfriend piped up, “I told him the same dang thing!!!”  He just laughed and laughed.

A previous girlfriend of his had a black child from a previous relationship, and when she whacked out on pot & meth he adopted the kid, and is raising her as his own.  So I really don’t think he’s racist.  He’s a good person.  He’s just a redneck.  Which is ok.

But my point is that “evidence of their existence” is tricky stuff.  Until you know them personally, I’d be careful about presuming what they really believe in.

And you may very well be right, by the way.  There are probably more white supremacists out there than I’m aware of.

But my point stands.  If I can’t find them, then I don’t consider them to be as great of a threat to America as an overtly hostile military force.

We were drinking around the fire behind his trailer on another night, and he said, “I’ll bet you $5 that you can cut that beer can in half, and I can weld it back together, and it won’t leak.”

He’s a welder, and I know he’s good at his job.  But geez.  So I take the bet.

He was so drunk that he stumbled as he pulled the gear out of his truck.  But he did it.  He welded aluminum that is so thin that you can tear it with your hands.  Amazing.

    Unrelated, but amazing.

I don’t know white supremacists. I would appreciate if you describe them to me.

Based only upon those few I’ve known: What I’m calling a white supremacist is convinced that if you’re black you must be stupid (I know it doesn’t make sense, that there are multiple examples to the contrary, but there you are.)  They believe the country would be better served if blacks couldn’t take any position of authority, that they should just some white think for them.

The ones I have known live in a populous area, they don’t wear armbands or tee-shirts advertising what they believe, and in fact pretty much keep their mouth shut.  They remain quietly anonymous, only opening up when they are persuaded its totally safe or they can’t be found out.  (Like, for example, sharing jokes or cartoons making fun of blacks by sticking them up next to the company coffee pot when nobody’s around. Or they think nobody’s around.)  And they may somewhat open up to a friend.

Sometimes, though, our attitudes and persuasions just cannot be totally hidden.

Are they militant?  I suppose that depends upon your definition of militant:  To me, militant implies actively -and consciously – working to achieve your stated goal, all the while prepared/preparing to exercise physical violence to achieve that end.  So no, I don’t think I’ve ever known such a one, at least I don’t think so.

    But see comment #23.

Chuck makes a good point here.  There may be some white people who have racist thoughts, but don’t act on them, or say them out loud.

Black racism against whites is encouraged these days, not discouraged like white racism against blacks.  Remember the friendly Rutgers professor from a few weeks ago?

Dr. Cooper was recently asked in an interview what Black Americans can expect from White people.  She responded:

Like, the thing I want to say to you is we got to take these mother[expletive]s out … White folks are not infinite and eternal, right? … They ain’t going to go on for infinity and infinity. And that’s super important to remember that white colonialism and imperialism has a beginning. And in my way of thinking about the world, that means it has an end … Whiteness is going to have an end date, because despite what White people think of themselves, they do not defy the laws of eternity … But Whiteness is largely an, you know, an inconvenient interruption.

Imagine such hatred for blacks coming from a white person – any white person, anywhere.  Holy crap.

But to Chuck’s point, some thoughts like that may be out there, but we just don’t hear about it.  Of course, if we don’t hear about it, maybe it’s not out there after all.  But it could be.  Hard to say.

But to my point, if white racists don’t say it, and don’t act on it, then they are not a threat to America, or really, to anybody else.  They’re certainly not as much of a threat as Dr. Cooper.

I’m not going to worry about a problem that I can’t find.

Again, it doesn’t mean the problem is not there.  But if I can’t find it, then heck with it.  I’ll worry about the problems that are more apparent.  Like the Chinese government.

Lefties don’t want there to be genuine external enemies. They loved to huff and puff about apartheid South Africa or Pinochet but confronting those who might hit back is too real, too outside comfortable narratives.  If there are real enemies out there then patriotism might matter, military service might be more important than academic tenure or fake moral superiority and the whole reality thing might intrude on the word games about social constructs. Worst of all, they would be merely on one side instead of presumed judges of all things, hauled down into being mere Americans under shared threat.
