Networks Finally Call Virginia for Youngkin; NJ Gov Race a Squeaker

The Virginia governor’s race seemed to be over hours ago, yet none of the legacy media would call the race. At one point, the Washington Post had Youngkin leading McAuliffe by 3.1 percentage points with 97 percent of the vote in — and they still wouldn’t call it.

At 12:34 a.m. ET, in unison, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, Politico, and the Washington Post finally gave in. All projected a Youngkin victory. Fox News held out for a few more minutes before declaring Youngkin’s win.

The drama in the Old Dominion ended four hours earlier but soon shifted to the shocking results coming out of New Jersey. Republican candidate Jack Ciattarelli leads Democratic incumbent Gov. Phil Murphy 50.2 percent to 49 percent with 79% reporting. That race is still too close to call, with election observers spending hours insisting it would swing to Murphy any second now. For this race even to be close shows the GOP’s power in 2021 elections.

Pennsylvania’s local races tilted red as did Long Island. Minneapolis’s plan to defund the police was rejected, and a write-in candidate for Buffalo mayor defeated a socialist. Oh, and the GOP took Virginia’s House of Delegates.

Tuesday, Nov. 2, was a serious warning shot to Democrats nervously eyeing 2022.

Fox News finally called it also, at 12:40 a.m. Eastern time.

It is not over. There are 88,000 mail-in ballots outstanding. There are 153 precincts outstanding. Youngkin is barely outside the margin of cheating, without the 153 precincts’ effect. The other two races are already within the margin of cheating (88,000 presumable Democrat operative generated “votes”). See the official Virginia elections website for absentee ballot stats.

Maybe the Republican candidates prevail, and maybe we have “Dewey Defeats Truman”

Yup. It will be tough to beat the cheat.

It’s over. The networks won’t let themselves be made fools of once again. If McAuliffe tries to upset things now, he’ll upset the media, and they will never forgive him for it. If they try something now, it will mean the death of the Democratic Party in Virginia.

I would welcome that. Nevertheless, it would be pointless. The people have spoken, and it’s still not 80/20 so the donkey party might be a little down but not out.

Which 79% reporting? It bothers me when people misuse statistics whether it’s innocent (they are stupid) or deliberate ( they are evil).

Isn’t it almost always the case that it’s heavily Democratic precincts that are slow to report? Why is that?

Anyway, I don’t have too much hope for my home state of NJ.

The only question is whether there is enough room to win the election through fraud.  They were taken by surprise and weren’t ready to cheat so extensively, but it’s not over until they give up.  They’ll figure that Republicans won’t fight back, but Youngkin might.

For the first time in his entire career, Rick Wilson finally helped a Republican win an election.

They need to see how many votes they need to find to put the Democrat over the top.

We’ll see, but I expect to see a number of Democrat Senators making pronouncements that perhaps now is not the time to get the “Build Back Better” stimulus bill passed.  “Just a little premature don’t you know, what with inflation looking to become a real thing.  Perhaps next cycle…”

Oh, I hope you’re right. The bills are unmitigated disasters that would take forever to disassemble and repeal, which is why they are written the way they are.

Hum!   Democrats seceded?  They weren’t ready for this but needed time to turn it over and will be exploring how?  With 99%  in, it won’t be easy, but this is where Democrats excel.

The Virginia outcome gets two thumbs up.  But I told my husband I don’t trust New Jersey.  Trump was ahead in 2020 when we all went to bed and when we woke up, he wasn’t.  New Jersey is a lot smaller than Virginia – what’s taking so long?  I saw something about “waiting for mail-in ballots?” We’ll take all victories – big and small.  But there’s something fishy in Denmark…..

Yes, hopefully we didn’t peak too soon, giving the Dems an opportunity to shift direction.  Nonetheless we should do well in 2022.
