Why Are Native Americans Such a Disappointment to the Woke?

Why are Native Americans so insensitive and racism-enabling? Despite the efforts of righteous white people to protect them, they continuously refuse to become sufficiently offended. For example, polls done in 2004 and 2016 found that 90 percent of Native Americans were indifferent or even marginally approving of the NFL team name “Redskins.”

The Washington Post lamented that attitude after its 2016 poll: “Nine in 10 Native Americans say they are not offended by the Washington Redskins name, according to a new Washington Post poll that shows how few ordinary Indians have been persuaded by a national movement to change the football team’s moniker.”

Don’t you love that? “Ordinary Indians” failed to be persuaded by a “national movement.” In other words, they proved to be a big disappointment to their woke self-appointed defenders.

The Atlanta Braves presciently did outreach (and cash) in support of regional Indian communities who not surprisingly have expressly endorsed the use of “Braves” and the “tomahawk chop” gesture by fans. So MLB has made no moves to pressure a name change. (I guess it’s time for the enlightened to dox and otherwise abuse those regional tribal leaders who refuse to have their sensibilities protected on a woke reservation.)

Twitter is aflame with images of Donald and Melanie Trump at the World Series in Atlanta doing the chop along with every other Braves fan.

When will we all realize what a small ridiculous minority the perpetually outraged really are? We should learn from Native Americans. It would be wonderful to be able to add “ignoring white liberal jackasses” to corn, potatoes, and the other things on the list of good stuff we obtained from the First Nations.

Learning how to deal with being offended is one of the most important parts of growing up. It develops humility, self-confidence, and grace.

Whoever this small band of developmentally stunted kids are, we owe it to them to ignore them. Like any child throwing a temper tantrum, you should never engage with them. Usually you can just roll your eyes and ignore them. Eventually they might even begin to grow up.

Of all the Natives I’ve met there is a common characteristic, even among the lousy ones (I’ve met one or two) and I think it goes along with the reason why they’re not offended by Redskins or Braves: They’re tough.

Whether it’s cultural or genetic they are just a hardy folk and not concerned with stupid things like skin color.

Now characterize them as drunkards and you’ll see them get offended in live and living color and you’ll wish you hadn’t.

This is particularly interesting in that Native Americans are the minority that probably has the best case that they are still living with the results of past injustices, casinos or not.

They apparently refuse to accept that they are inferior to their woke white saviors.

And some American Indians are…gasp…Libertarians or Republicans….Conservatives even. A Comanche man who was in our foster care ministry had among other conservative bumper stickers on his truck, this one “Put the government in charge of health care. Yeah! That’ll work. Ask an Indian.”

I don’t see how being a Brave is offensive anyway.

We have a team called “pirates”. That is like being called the “Terrorists”

Thank goodness there are white liberals out there to tell their lessers when they should be offended.

Since the Washington Football Team still hasn’t picked a new mascot, I’m thinking “Washington White Liberal Jackasses” has a nice ring to it.

Those are the characteristics that I would want to base a sports team on. Also, Native Americans have been fantastically brave in America’s war. Whether fighting against white governments or for white governments or the Confederacy or facing the Jerries their military prowess is like thunder across a plain.

This is not a new phenomena.  In the late 1960’s Frito-Lay had a mascot called the Frito Bandito.  The majority of Mexican Americans liked the character, but activists persuaded the company to drop the ads.

And what percentage of blacks were actually offended by Aunt Jemima?  It’s funny how people who are all about diversity want to remove all traces of non-white people from the marketplace.
