Virginia Down-Ticket
But as a Virginia resident, the race for Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General have just as much interest. In both cases, the GOP has nominated exceptional candidates. Former Marine and (believe it or not) electrician, Winsome Sears is a breath of fresh air. Perhaps no more than in this awesome press release photo.
And speaking of guns, here’s hoping that the current AG, Mark Herring is looking for a new job this time next week. His advocacy of gun control laws may play well in NoVA, but not so much out here in the blessed Blue Ridges. Jason Miyares’s mother fled communist Cuba — which probably tells you all you need to know about his stance on guns.
Like an unranked team that is tied in the last minutes of the fourth quarter, it’s exciting to at least have a shot at this thing. As a loyal Virginian, I have dutifully slogged to the polls lo these many years with little hope of any victory except in local elections. Now, thanks to some new blood and excellent messaging, that may change. Let’s hope that Youngkin, Sears and Miyares get the ball down the field far enough for a field goal that wins it for the whole team.

Now this is what I call a campaign poster!
Reminds me a bit of this woman:
If I were a Virginia resident, I would vote for Sears on the basis of her name alone. Winsome is such an endearing term.
Herring is beloved by the Virginia left and is an under the radar source of some of the cultural changes in the state. Win or lose, he’s not going away and may well be the next (D) gubernatorial candidate. It will be interesting to see if his vote total is significantly different from that of McAwful.
