The State of the Ivy League
“My body inhaled molecules of white supremacy as they seeped out of my computer.” The person who wrote that sentence was admitted to the pre-med program at Harvard.
I took an inorganic chemistry exam the same day that a grand jury failed to charge two police officers with the murder of Breonna Taylor. That day, my body inhaled molecules of white supremacy as they seeped out of my computer from that proctored Zoom room. They entered my bloodstream and catalyzed a metabolism that would allow for the invasion of my body by a violently infectious life form. A chronic pain, caused by the perpetuation of lethally unjust practices and compounded by the silence and avoidance between myself and my educators when it comes to Black women’s lives, would make its way through and onto neighboring cells within my physical being. The presence of the germ of white supremacy would cause a steric hindrance within me, slowing down and even preventing the reactions of learning and healing that I desperately needed for myself and from others in that moment. The exam began, and I haven’t been able to show up mentally or emotionally in a science class since.
She obviously wasn’t cut out for medicine, but if she’s really good at melodrama and missing work, there’s a blue-state congressional seat just waiting for her.

I’d call that a win for the medical profession, but a loss for Harvard: losing a black gal in pre-med is going to leave a mark on their D&I stats. Shoot, they might end up with yet another entirely qualified and serious Asian kid. That won’t look good….
How to say you aren’t capable of doing the coursework without saying you aren’t capable of doing the coursework.
Even the innocent pleasure of a handful of artisan organic trail mix provides no respite from my whiteness. My fair trade alpaca vest pretends to be pebble but I cannot help but think it hides a whiteness under culture-mimicking dye. The polluted rains fall on industrialized concrete atop raped native lands. That steady sound accuses me.
Carbon-poison-spewing vehicles on the street below mock me with rude passing sounds as if to remind me of my powerlessness to undo my primordial sins.
Social justice advocates of color have rightfully burned down the Earth Market and thus my only source of artisan flour so tonight I will fast in solidarity with oppressed peoples everywhere until Muffy arrives around 8 with organic Tuscan kale salad and we will prep for tomorrow’s Physics 202 exam about the implicit racism in Kepler’s Laws (the sheer whiteness of “Laws” patriarchally imposed on nature is triggering, is it not?). The purity of nature with all the numbers and formulas removed is the key to erasing the stains of whiteness from our mother Gaia.
My friend Chris (ze/zir) says I should finish med school and open a clinic in rural Ghana to serve people with no available care. But they eat a lot of goat there, and I’m vegan.
How long before this is plagiarized by a student?
I’d say the person who wrote that tripe has a great future as a “Humanities” lecturer at one of our major universities. They certainly don’t belong in any of the sciences.
My brain must be half asleep, but it appears in the wording in the URL link that she was indeed accepted.
If you steal utter and complete BS is that really a crime?
Or, perhaps this a a brilliant young woman with a wicked sense of humor, knowingly playing the Harvard admissions team hard.
I hope #3 and #4 are on-track as comments of the week.
Crimenutely. What a loon. A look at the rest of her oeuvre doesn’t disappoint, either This one starts out hailing Meghan Markle, and ends with a paranoia reminiscent of poor Princess Di in her final days:
As for this one, I don’t expect Harvard to commiserate when I die either. Why would it? Much talk of death in this woman’s writing. That’s probably significant, perhaps even clinically.
My dad spent a year as a Harvard Fellow back in the early 1960s when it was, largely, still Harvard. Now, it’s all, Chocolate, Culture, and the Politics of Food.
Just what the world needs, an obsessive preoccupation with the social justice of chocolate.
I wonder if white chocolate is racist? Maybe I should sign up for the course and find out.
I really have lived too long.
I figured he had plagiarized this from a student.
I produce my own doggerel, thank you.
I think I would like this more if it were more coherent, and then realized that the incoherence may have been the point 🤯🤯🤯🤯
“The point” is hegemonic word rape.
I remember hearing a comedian quip …
”Somewhere out there is the worst doctor in America. No. … Really. It’s a statistical certainty. And tomorrow morning, someone has an appointment with them.”
Seems like this person is setting up to be in the race to the bottom a few years from now.
Wow, the scary thing is that represents a cogent and coherent argument to millions of Americans……
One is not admitted to “pre-med” at Harvard, one is admitted to Harvard and enrolls in pre-Med courses. It used to be that over 50% of students admitted to Ivy schools attempt the pre-Med grind; that may still hold true. The required courses are rigorous and perhaps even designed to weed out the chaff. Inorganic chemistry is notorious for challenging those not up to the task of further medical study, however, there is not an easy class among those required, lab courses all except for calculus. If 50% matriculate and enter the pre-Med grind, about 20% make it to med school. It’s a hard slog, not so much difficult as exhausting. No one gets through it who is not dedicated.
It seems to me that this woman was struggling with her pre-Med coursework. She was one of the 30% who washed out. This had nothing to do with white supremacy.
Stuff like this never happens at non-Ivy-League schools. Right?
My body inhaled molecules of bravo sierra from an idiot snowflake as they seeped out of my tablet. Fortunately, I recognized this in time to click away.
Turn off the screens that promote the corporate media (enemy of the people).
While she is trying to sort out her molecules and looking for a safe space to get through just one course, they’ll take her tuition money all the same and wish her well…….
My bet is 1619 Volume II
She is probably getting a full-ride equity scholarship.
PV =nRT is all I have to say. The folks who are making the decisions all got through school; there will always be atrocities to protest, but you’ve got to buy the ticket first.
Okay, so I went and read the whole thing at The Crimson, and I’ve got a couple of observations.
First, the chick writes pretty well. I don’t know if she’s a diversity pick or not, but either her verbal skills are really good or she’s got someone proofreading for her. I was impressed — not by the content, which is whiny, pathetic, and overwrought, but by the presentation.
Secondly, she’s a horrible bigot. She’ll probably end up at BLM, where she’ll fuel America’s nascent race war while fleecing black Americans, like the other BLM frauds do.
Thirdly, the comment feed at The Crimson is having none of it. They recognize her for the pathetic race-baiting drama queen she is, and that pleases me. It reaffirms my belief that America hasn’t gone completely ’round the bend.
Victim privilege on display.
That’s what you and I think when we read it. She and her ilk read it and become even more rage-and-hate-filled because they think that it just proves her right.
Oh, I know. But I don’t care what they think. I only care how many of them there are, and how quickly the rest of us wake up and tell them to go away.
Said like a true supremacist.
In her defense, you’re allowed to write some really stupid crap in college. If you don’t realize it’s crap about 5 years out of college, you’ve become…..The Chowderhead!
It’s not stealing if it’s fewer than 1000 words at a time, at least in Chicago and San Francisco.
Or as a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
commissarofficial: She would greatly enjoy harming people of the “wrong” race, sex, religion, politics, etc.
