I refer to the incomparable Archie Goodwin, found in the 70-odd novels, novellas and short stories produced by his “literary agent” Rex Stout, and portrayed superbly on television by Timothy Hutton. Uber-competent, snappy dresser and dancer, all around admirable guy. I’ve stolen a lot of quotes from him over the years. Published in General
