The Loss of a Brilliant Man

Powerline reportsTerrible news out this morning of the death of Angelo Codevilla, at age 78, reportedly the victim of a drunk driver.

If you haven’t read his stuff, you should.  I learn something every time I read him.  This is a great loss, to all of us.  Rest in peace, my friend…

What a shame. The drunk driver part steams me. We lost a great thinker because someone couldn’t discipline themselves.

For those that don’t know, he got famous from the article he wrote about the ruling class because Rush Limbaugh read the whole thing. It’s like 11 pages printed. lol I’ve been meaning to read character of nations forever. I think that is possibly a unifying book for the anti-trump, pro Trump movement. My guess is that book talks about the feedback loop between government and citizens that is quite hard to stop. It’s really hard to tell citizens to just suck it up and “behave better” when the government is pushing them the other way.

The ruling class book came out later.

I wouldn’t be surprised if that driver has a long history of criminal convictions for which he has received little punishment. (EDIT: It seems like every day there is another report of somebody killed by a career criminal who had been released on bail or early parole.)

And seeing how so many of today’s intellectuals have little more than contempt for ordinary people, he was a rare jewel.

You can really on the truthfulness of this, because…

    The Bulwark

https://www.thebulwark.comThe Bulwark is a news network launched in 2018 dedicated to providing political analysis and reporting free from the constraints of partisan loyalties or tribal prejudices.

If I could spew them out I would.

That was a recycling of a smear job that another Bulwark hack wrote earlier this year.

A terrible tragedy. I have to admit though, at first I thought it was Eric Idle.

We have no shortage of serious and productive thinkers, yet no wealth of those whose product is serious.  We will miss Professor Codevilla.

Here he is on the Orwellian nature of COVID lockdowns in July:

“Since obfuscation, pretense, and lies concerning the COVID-19 are the effective agents of the panic and of the seizure of arbitrary power, truth and clarity about it are the foundational requirements for escaping its effects. Here is a dose.”

    July of 2020, that was.
