ZDoggMD: A Voice of Pandemic Pragmatism

For those of you who never read anything I write and don’t bother to look at my handle, I’m a nurse.

In the bedside nursing community right now, it is hard to find anyone who is a moderate on anything COVID-related.  There are people (mostly) vehemently for lock-downs, masking, mandatory vaccinations and then there are the other people that believe that there’s a conspiracy, the vaccines are inherently evil, the vaccines change DNA and are designed to control society.  In between, in the silent corners of the break-room (appropriately socially distanced, of course), there are the moderate people.

Vaccines generally help.  Yes, there are side effects.  No, they can’t advertise all of them.  Yes, for some people it’s worth it.  No, it’s not worth it for everyone.  No, it’s probably not a conspiracy.  Yes, the government stands to lose a lot of money if people don’t get vaccinated.

It is hard to hear the probable truth: it’s all probably somewhere in between.  ZDoggMD, Dr. Zubin Damiana, is a part of the Moderate Majority and he is committed to giving it a voice.

In the following video, the Delta Variant is explained really, really well along with why lockdowns might not work and why the models are wrong and why it isn’t a crazy, nut-job, science-denier belief to hold that they are.  He also expresses the frustration of many parents watching our kids be harmed by these lockdowns.

And he’s a real doctor.  Not a Dr. Oz doctor.  He’s an actual medical doctor.  He actually practices.  He actually doesn’t sell non-FDA approved supplements.

We need to give strength and volume to his voice and his opinion, the opinions that many reasonable, science-minded, good, caring people hold.

The media narrative lies.

But I hope he recommends them in the case of Daflon.

    Sorry. Off-topic.

Good post. Right on with the moderation.

(Don’t nobody hate me for this, but the truth might be somewhere in between on election fraud questions too.)

If it comes in through the mucosa, would using a neti-pot or the like be helpful in reducing the viral load?

I’m not an epidemiologist or an infectious disease doctor so I can’t say for sure.  Reducing the viral load doesn’t exactly make sense in this context.  Using a neti-pot traditionally clears out excess mucus and particulate matter.  The virus travels through the air and attaches to the mucosa, creating the response.  I wouldn’t think that you can exactly “wash out” the virus or reduce the amount of virus that is absorbed.

But it usually does so without telling actual specific lies. The lies are in the overall effect of their reporting. The lack of definitions allow them to do this. What constitutes an “infection”? Or a “breakthrough”? It seems that many of the reports of breakthroughs or infections are merely positive tests, which the vaccines cannot prevent anyway, because they don’t stop you from inhaling the virus.

I use mouthwash these days a lot, especially after being in public places. Alcohol based and crest mouthwash were proven to kill other coronaviruses. It can’t hurt. I read that nasal rinses which contain small amounts of baby shampoo can be used to rinse your sinuses out, since soap kills the virus.

They say delta is as contagious as chicken pox. And everyone gets that, almost no exceptions. I’m wondering if it might be smarter to get exposed now while the vaccine I got is still effective, than later when it might not be.

Listerine seems to be pretty effective against a lot of things.

Well, bleach also kills things.  So does ammonia.  I don’t know if that’s a good rationale for rinsing your sinuses with it.

But hey, it’s your sinuses and if you want to put shampoo in them, that’s all good.  I will enjoy not rinsing mine.
