The Brothers Cuomo Will Face No Consequences

Gov. Andrew Cuomo violated federal and state sexual harassment laws, according to an independent investigation by New York state’s attorney general. In a Tuesday news conference, AG Letitia James revealed that Cuomo engaged in “unwanted groping, kissing, hugging, and making inappropriate comments” to multiple women, including state employees. The probe also found Cuomo allegedly retaliated against one accuser and presided over a toxic and hostile work environment.

After interviewing 179 witnesses, James said, “These interviews and pieces of evidence revealed a deeply disturbing yet clear picture: Gov. Cuomo sexually harassed current and former state employees in violation of federal and state laws.” She added that she was “inspired by all the brave women who came forward” and “more importantly, I believe them.”

Looks like the end for the third-term New York Governor, right? Not so fast…

Speaking Tuesday afternoon, Cuomo refused to step down and condemned the AG’s detailed report. “I never touched anyone inappropriately or made inappropriate sexual advances,” he said. Then, over a photo montage of the governor interacting with people, he added, “I do it with everyone — black and white, young and old, straight and LGBTQ, powerful people, friends, strangers, people who I meet on the street.”

Both President Biden and Speaker Pelosi called on Cuomo to resign, as did Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and most of New York’s congressional delegation. Many of the same people called on current Virginia Gov. Ralph “Blackface” Northam to resign as well. Biden now calls Northam “one of the best governors in the country.”

The AG’s report also documented damage control efforts by Gov. Cuomo’s brother, Chris Cuomo. James said the CNN anchor was “regularly provided with confidential and often privileged information about state operations and helped make decisions that impacted State business and employees—all without any formal role, duty, or obligation to the State.”

This all looks very bad; can the Cuomo brothers survive? Of course, they can.

Most of the probe’s allegations were reported earlier this year. After a few days of tut-tutting from the media and politicos, the matter was dropped. The same treatment was given to Gov. Cuomo for sending Covid-positive seniors into New York nursing homes, resulting in a catastrophic number of deaths. Key figures expressed outrage, the governor ignored them, and the news cycle moved on.

CNN already cleared Chris Cuomo back in May, offering no disciplinary action to their prime-time anchor despite his dramatic breach of journalistic ethics.

Andrew Cuomo is a prominent Democrat, so the press will go back to bashing Gov. DeSantis for not killing seniors. Journalists want to appear on CNN, so Chris Cuomo’s wrongdoing will be forgotten. And when, a few months from now, the Cuomo Brothers are joking on TV with a giant Q-Tip and special guest Jeffrey Toobin, the media will laugh along with them.

    Impeach. Remove. Bar from office.

It is critical that after so many folks have gotten away without consequences, we will have a Governor impeached and removed.  It is essential that this portion of state or federal constitutions not be reduced to a dead letter.

I realize this article is ancient history since it’s from way back in February of this year…but…

Tara Reade calls out AOC’s hypocrisy in handling Cuomo accusers vs. her allegations against Biden

No surprise, all of those people were hypocrites about Bill Clinton too.

With Clinton they hadn’t yet reached full wokeness. Bill forced them to abandon the sexual harassment movement for about ten years.

They still abandon it whenever needed to suit their agenda.

Not quite my point. Back then, they still felt the need to be at least somewhat consistent. Now, of course, they can argue diametrically opposed view within the same breath. Because they’ve become fully woke.

Back then they felt the need to be somewhat consistent for a few weeks. Now we’re down to a few minutes.

How about the evidence in the matter of Maria Piacesi, the 8-year-old who Joe Biden groped and then pinched her nipple? The girl, who is 14-years-old now, stated on a video that Biden groped and pinched her. But wait, there is also video evidence of the groping and the pinch – or in legal circles known as child molestation; a video that millions of people have seen with their own eyes. Has this been litigated? You’re an attorney. If this was Joe, the grade school teacher or Joe, the mailman, or Joe, your next door neighbor, would you be at least inclined to report the incident to the authorities? Out of an abundance of caution to make sure that this person wasn’t possibly molesting other children, wouldn’t it be a responsible thing to report this Joe fellow to the authorities? Where does your civic duty begin and end, counselor?

I believe that the accuracy and correctness of my position will be shown as the Trump spell over my party dissipates.

From Hemingway about how someone goes bankrupt:  “Gradually then suddenly.”  I think that this is how the Trump spell will end.

We shall see.  However there is no need for childish taunts along the way.  They are an indulgence which don’t meet the moment.

To all, please note that Mr. Robbins has revised and edited his remarks in Comment #38 after I responded to them.

Please also note that he now accuses me of making “childish taunts” when I actually posed very real questions about the child molestation of Maria Piacesi at the hands of Joe Biden, which he ignores completely. I cited the documented molestation of Miss Piacesi because it is a prime example of the hypocrisy of the Democratic Party, the mainstream media in general, and those who supported and voted for Joe Biden, (of whom, Mr. Robbins is one by his own previous admissions) – by giving Joe Biden a pass on his disgusting, reprehensible, and illegal behavior. The example of Biden’s molestation of the 8-year-old girl is pertinent to the discussion of the Cuomo allegations in Jon Gabriel’s post which also discusses the hypocrisy of Democrats when they dismiss or conveniently forget sexual predators in their own party.

Mr. Robbins’ altered response and his refusal to answer direct questions – a tactic he has employed on other comment threads on numerous other posts – is a prime example of arguing in bad faith. For those new to Ricochet, please don’t follow Mr. Robbins’ example.

I reacted in anger at the nonsense that had been aimed at me.  A few minutes later, I calmed down and revised what I had posted.

Brian Webb is one of my current “special friends” at Ricochet who seeks to taunt, and engage in “what-aboutism.”  Ricochet is to be a place where we discuss the issues of the day in a cordial manner, not a place where one member cross-examines another member.  I usually ignore my special friends.  (I particular, I don’t respond to wierd, kooky conspiracy theories that they have discovered on the internet.)  This time I took the bait before correcting it a few minutes later.

A few other points.  Not all of my “special friends” stay “special friends.”  As a Christian, I am instructed to look for the best in others and to hope that I can reach their better angels.  That has happened recently with two of my former “special friends.”

Now let’s talk about Biden.  I have been voting since 1972 when I voted for George McGovern while I was a college student.  Since then, I had never voted for another Democrat for President until I voted for Biden in 2020, 48 years later.  The reason why I voted for Biden is now obvious to those who have eyes to see and ears to hear; Trump’s Big Lie after the election, and his part in the 1/6 Capitol Riot, provide substantial, compelling,, and for me, controlling justification for my vote.  I sensed that this type of behavior was possible from Trump; his behavior since the election has confirmed that I was absolutely positively correct in voting against him.

Do I support Biden’s policies?  Are you kidding?  No, I don’t.  But Biden forced Trump out of office, and for that the nation should be eternally grateful.  Most people in the Conservative movement have one issue which is most important to them.  Being Pro-Life, Pro Second Amendment, Pro-Growth, and Pro-National Defense are four of those areas.  For me, what is most important is “The Rule of Law.”  For that reason, I literally had no choice but to vote for Biden.  However I completely respect those whose primary issues are Life, 2A, growth or defense.  After the spell of Trump has been broken, I hope that we can all be together again.

Who is Brian Webb? If you’re referring to me, then I have far better things to do with my time than “seek to taunt” you. But if you do show up on a comments thread and say something foolish or idiotic, then, yes, I will call you out on it. As for engaging in “what-aboutism” what was your reference to Trump in a post about Andrew Cuomo and the Democrats? My comments about Biden were in line with the OP’s topic at hand and Democrat hypocrisy. Finally, the accusation of “cross-examining” is a bit laughable. I understand that it’s certainly a challenge to defend the man you voted for since the statement of Biden’s victim and the video evidence appears to be so overwhelmingly damning but do try not to frame this as somehow a personal attack on you and assume the pose of a victim. I asked you direct questions. You chose to completely ignore them and are still ignoring them.

Oh my. I note that you have edited out the portion of Comment #43 that addresses many of your issues. Please reread my Comment #43.

We’ve heard all of your songs before, many times. I believe this one is #327 from the True Conservative Party hymnal.

What you never seem able to grasp is however much you – and David French, et al – may be “shocked” by Trump’s “character,” Biden is actually worse, in all aspects. In addition, all of his POLICIES are awful, for the country, for the world… Also for women, and for minorities… Merely because Biden is not in “your party” doesn’t excuse you being complicit in his elevation.

This is a great post by Ricochet Editor Jon Gabriel about New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. Please do not hijack it.

Be careful who you accuse of “hijacking.”

Along with conspicuous threadjacking, projection is just another tool in toolkit for leftist trolls in center-right-ish comment sections.

Jon Gabriel, Ed.: Andrew Cuomo is a prominent Democrat, so the press will go back to bashing Gov.

    Yup.
