Blake Masters for Senate in Arizona

So here’s a young man running for an Arizona Senate seat in 2022. Were he to win, that would help get the GOP back in the majority, if nevertheless in opposition. His name is Blake Masters. He runs Thiel Capital for Peter Thiel. Masters is a populist running on two issues: The border wall and the restoration of the middle class. His idea, which has made him the enemy of all liberals, most of America’s elite, is that a family should be able to do alright on one income. I dunno the guy personally, we are no closer than what are called Twitter mutuals, but I’m writing to get you to support him. His politics is like J.D. Vance’s and I’m for that guy, too. I think with such senators, the GOP will finally treat its electorate with respect & take America’s troubles seriously. Once their fellow Americans get them elected, these men are very likely to retire after two terms or so. You will get public spirit instead of dooming the country to the incumbency of vaguely polished mediocrities. Do everything you can, friends!

If you’re hankering for some of my political opinions and why I’m bothering you to support this guy, here’s my substack piece on Masters.

I do live in Arizona, and specifically in Tucson, where Masters apparently now lives. I don’t know anything about him, beyond what is in this post and this video.

He does mention growing up in Tucson, like me. I wasn’t able to find any information on his high school. He is quite young, being born in 1986, the year after I graduated from high school (in Tucson).

I like the ad. I’d like it better if Masters had some sort of track record of conservatism. We’ve been burned by a lot of elected officials who talked the conservative Republican talk, but didn’t walk the walk. I’m not claiming that Masters is one of these, but I’d like to see some evidence that he is not.

I also live in AZ, as of this year.   On the whole, I tend to prefer candidates who have a legislative or other political track record, an established political base, and who aren’t self-funders.   I’m willing to give Masters the benefit of the doubt, but AG Brnovich (sp?) is running for that Senate seat as well.    He presumably has some statewide name ID, and a political base.   Are there objections (other than from Democrats, of course) to his candidacy?

    That’s great.

I’m well. I’m living in uptown New Orleans for the time being and am able to pay the bills working here. I’m making headway on a script and get to stroll around the city and do some of my own adventures for inspiration.
