Even easier to be a wealthy novelist who will never have to take care of these children.
Hey! It’s Take Your Kids to Stephen King’s House Day!
Suffer the little children to put their faith in drug gangs and human traffickers.
@StephenKing “Suffer the little children come unto Me. Unless They’re illegal aliens from Central America.” Get it Right.
Suffer the little children to come unto Maine.
Suffer the little children to return to their parents instead of being cast adrift in a foreign country.
Do not suffer fools gladly.
Revised Stephen King: Baby, I’m your self-righteous man. #TheStand
There’s more than 1 reason why I stopped reading your books, Steve.
Attempting to paraphrase (or quote) Scripture out of context isn’t a new gag; he doesn’t want to be in the same company as the guy in Matthew 4.
I forgot how many children King has adopted. Twenty, thirty, 374?
Keen eye for intent.
Being Christian is the hardest thing you’ll never do, Steve. #Sanctimonyiseasy
Especially when you’re safely ensconced with your millions of dollars in New England. #Movetotheborder
Stephen King is not claiming to be a Christian himself, so the fact that he (presumably) isn’t adopting any of the children crossing the border does not prove hypocrisy on his part. He’s simply pointing out that some people who profess to be Christians are not living up to their ideals.
Admittedly, only about 20% (by some estimates) of those who crossed the border this year are children, and at least some who are children are also gang members. However, some truly are innocent children who have come to the United States to join their parents or to escape the terrible violence that is – at least in part – a result of our country’s war on drugs. So, what should Christians do about those innocent children?
This one is the winner, here.
If They’re in the country illegally, then They’re not “innocent.”
Nice try.
But Steven King called them unto them, and said, suffer little children to come unto me, but forbid them if undocumented and unaccompanied by a responsible adult: for of such is the kingdom of Obama’s new rules..
Give them food, shelter, medicine, and send them back.
Are they refugees merely because their parents wanted better lives for them? What of a thief who tries to steal a fortune for his children?
We don’t hesitate to lock up criminals who happen to be fathers, nor do we allow their children the profits of their crimes. Is that cruel of us? Or are the fathers the cruel ones? Is it not a harsh necessity of reality to occasionally deprive children of their parents?
If a teenager breaks into your home, does his age mean that he is automatically welcome to stay? How many can pick your lock before you feel free to object? These “kids” are at our border because their local media told them we would let them stay. If you accept these, there will be more.
Christians are called to care about both mercy and justice. We are also called to be prudent. It is neither kind nor feasible to abrogate sovereignty of our own home.
Undoubtedly, there are reasonable arguments to be made on both sides. I am disgusted by the remarks of Stephen King and Cardinal Dolan, among others, which pretend that this is a simple moral challenge on which all Christians should immediately agree.
I prefer his fiction, it is closer to the truth.
Stephen King believes America=Jesus.
If they are young enough to be innocent of legal concerns, then they were almost certainly too young to travel across the length of Mexico alone. That means they came with guardians… who can just as well accompany them back to Central America.
And let’s not ignore Mexico’s complicity in this.
Well if abortion was just more available in Central America the problem of these unwanted children wouldn’t exist. #FundChoiceAbroad
If only these kids had the strength to make it to Canada I’m sure everything would be OK. #LetThemThrough
I guess its up to Atheists to help them with all their many charities. #Nevermind
I hear Hamas is looking for some more children these days. #JustStandThereAndDontFlinch
Much easier to demand something be done when you don’t have to do it yourself. #LogInYourEye
It’s impressive that King can now say as little in 140 characters as he once did in a thousand pages.
LOL. Yes, but only when it fits the Leftist agenda of turning the government into a nanny. When it comes to everything else, separation of church and state!!! Jesus never said anything about killing babies, did he?
BTW, why do they insist on calling everyone as “little children”? A 16 year old gang member from Guatemala is not a pequeno nino.
They think beyond step one. If you don’t want continuous waves of children being sent across the border, then you can’t amnesty the present group until you have control of it.
The funny thing: As bad as those tweets are, they’re still better than any book he’s written since the 1980’s.
Amen, Brother Aaron.
Yes. I consider it an invasion; an act of war. And Barry is on Their side.
Hahahahahaha! Love this!
Hey kids! Summer camp this year is on Stephen King’s lawn! It’s free(!) and no shot records or medical screenings are necessary. All disease vectors 17 and under welcome. And when it’s over, he’ll pay your transportation to the urban center of your choice, where he will also pay for your food, shelter, clothing, education, and medical care. Welcome to Stephen King’s America.
Come on people. The assignment was to compose a tweet.
