Pro-Labor Media Group Resists Own Staff’s Unionization — Jon Gabriel

Media Matters for America is quick to mock and even invent hypocrisy by conservatives. For some reason, they are less vocal about the myriad controversies engulfing their side. Especially when their own group is directly involved.

The Democrat-loving purple shirts of the Service Employees International Union wants to unionize the far-left staff of MMFA. Should be a slam dunk, right? But it seems that David Brock, Eric Boehlert, et al., are not so keen on living out their pro-labor ideology:

Last week, the union filed a representation petition with the National Labor Relations Board, indicating that the nonprofit media watchdog organization rejected an effort by the union to organize MMFA’s staff through a Card Check election.

Media Matters has gone so far as to hire Perkins Coie, a law firm that specializes in representing management in labor disputes. According to Sean Higgins of the Washington Examiner, “neither Media Matters for America nor [SEIU] Local 500 responded to requests for comment.”

Leftist non-profits are quick to agitate for big labor and hiking the minimum wage, but they usually do so with non-union staff and unpaid interns. Before I restock my popcorn supply, let me assure the oppressed workers of MMFA that I stand with them. “The wage slaves! United! Will never be defeated!”

Media Matters, SEIU, irony and hypocrisy. This story is like eating an Indian meal… so many layers of flavors, all of them delicious… especially the irony and hypocrisy!

Is this the ultimate blue-on-blue catfight? Seinfeld’s Kramer should be consulted.

    Jon,

Busboys of the world unite!  You have nothing to lose but your aprons.

Also, how do you separate the staff from the unpaid interns at MMFA…

    Regards,

    Jim

Jon, You had me going for a minute there. As it’s not a site I frequent, I had to look it up to see if Media Matters really used the raised red fist as their emblem. For others wondering — they don’t. But, one of these days, the socialists (communists) are going to come out of the closet.

This situation actually took place years ago between two unions in Pittsburgh. I don’t remember which unions were involved  but the office workers voted to join another union. I remember it got very ugly. They went on strike for higher wages. The strike didn’t last long and the first  chance they got the raised member dues. Who knew?

Don’t you know if you are one of the religious clergy of the progressive movement fighting for your side, your religions morals don’t apply to you. Not being a religious hypocrite is to Christian and old school since Jesus was the first person ever to teach that it was immoral. We can’t be like Christians lets be like the pagans who could leave their Wife not allowing her ever remarry because your husband could come back 20 years later and everything she has is his. The progressive creed, down with culture and modern morals up with post-modern morals.

See progressive are so hip they are past being modern they are post modern, its so new its stone age.

How will the wage scale work? I guess the guys who have to watch the 700 Club five days a week would be apprentices and once you make your way up journeyman you can move up to the job of listening to Rush Limbaugh. Such important work those folks do.

I don’t know which is funnier:  This story, or the one about Paul Krugman being paid a quarter million per year by CUNY to promote its studies of income inequality.

I just used the fist since I always see that at union rallies. Note, they don’t actually raise their fists, but sit around eating donuts while holding a sign with a raised fist.

This reminds of the time when the SEIU HQ Staff picked and protested SEIU management.

In addition to the commie fist, the labor agitators use the language of communism.  I’ve seen countless posters that say they’re going to “smash” this and “smash” that.  It’s nauseating.
