  1. Vice-Potentate

I love VDH in this podcast. Unpolished honesty seems to be a rare commodity these days. VDH shows how its done without the appearance of unwarranted bitterness. Applause.

  2. Nick Stuart

As befits judicious, thoughtful commentators displaying the collective wisdom of the conservative commentariat, Mona, Jay, and Victor credit President Obama with being personally a good man. No knock on them, this is what is conventionally expected of conservative bien pensants.

Having become radicalized more than somewhat by the events of the past year specifically, and past decade generally I am going to advance the notion that President Obama is not personally a good man. He is a vile machiavel (albeit one whose narcissism blinds him to reality) who will say anything, and do perhaps anything to advance his agenda of, as he said “fundamentally transforming America.”

We can’t wait for a miracle-working candidate in 2016, we need to begin the fight now.

The Left pushes, pushes, pushes, and pushes. We have to begin pushing back or we will be pushed into completely impotent irrelevancy.

  3. Keith Preston

Cool.  My favorite historian.  Why isn’t he nationally known outside of conservative circles?   Never mind, I know the answer to that question…

    sigh.

  6. The Mugwump

I always enjoy listening to VDH, but I was not cheered by his sober analysis.  I can only conclude that delusional thinking is a fixture among leftists.

  7. Give Me Liberty

Nick, I completely agree with you.  Why does JN believe Obama is personally a better man?  This makes no sense; a better man would not be cable of his despicable words or deeds.

Grendel: VDH doesn’t like Obama because BHO doesn’t like America.

Of course he doesn’t like America.  He’s a Democrat, and Democrats are not American except in the narrowest legalistic sense.  How can you claim to be an American when you loathe the Constitution and despise the Declaration?  Obama, being a narcissist and not having been raised in America, just has a weaker sense of what it is politic to say. · 47 minutes ago

Hawai ‘i is part of America and,  except for a brief time living in Indonesia, Obama was raised in Hawai’i.  I was raised in Hawai ‘i and consider myself very American.   The distinction is that I was raised as an American, Obama was raised to hate America, and he does.

Another excellent podcast.  Lately “Need to Know” has become my favorite of the Ricochet podcasts!  Keep ‘em coming.

  10. Max Knots

    Volume problem:

Great podcast and guest as usual.  But the volume level is too low on Dr. Hanson’s microphone.  I needed to increase the volume 3 notches when he spoke and then drop it back for Mona and Jay.  Not the only Ricochet podcast where this has occurred.  The previous podcast with this problem was due to the guest sitting too far from the speakerphone (apparently).  A small complaint assuredly.  Thanks for doing these interviews.

  11. It’s a Skype issue. We have no way to individually control the levels — they all come in over one channel. We try to balance them out in post as best we can, but it’s tough when one guest is on the phone and the other two are on Skype.

  12. Benjamin Glaser

Is there a place where one can listen to VDH lectures?

He’s all over YouTube and has a few on Fora.tv.

From 30:20-32:38; 33:54-36:20- Sublime. I could listen to VDH for days…
