While the doomed  Syrian “peace negotiations” proceed in Geneva, the suicide bombings go on all over Iraq, and Iran announces “We ain’t dismantling no centrifuges,” what’s the view from the democratically conflicted state of Israel? Here’s another briefing from the much-respected—and very hard line—American/Israeli journalist Caroline Glick, who these days is one of the top editors at the Jerusalem Post.

Caroline Glick should be mandatory reading for everyone around these parts.

Milt’s term “very hard line” is technically correct, but that is not at all the same as “far right.”

The quality of the audio is poor.

  2. Group Captain Mandrake

I missed “very hard line”.  When did he say that?  I think Caroline was calling in by telephone, and the line wasn’t clear.

Much of what she said made sense to me.  Whether or not you agree with her ideas for a one-state solution, I personally don’t think it can happen.  Pundits worldwide speak of “the two state solution” with a degree of almost religious reverence (even Stephen Harper referred to it).  Any attempt by Israel actively to pursue something that doesn’t fit into that worldview is not going to work, irrespective of its intrinsic merits or demerits.  On the other hand, the “livable divorce” described by Yesh Atid is a more likely alternative, an inevitability perhaps if the Palestinian leadership doesn’t change its ways.

You can go directly to her website: http://carolineglick.com/ and read what she has to say. Worldwide pundits need to be ignored and keep their ignorant opinions to themselves. Strange isn’t that all the countries that were formatted  after WWI from the Ottoman Empire are not being questioned as to their legitimacy, only Israel.

We are having quite a bit of trouble with our southern border, so why don’t we just lop it off across Southern CA through TX and give it to Mexico so we can have “peace” and while we are at it release all our illegal  immigrant  prisoners.

Sarah Honig is another person that should be required reading. http://sarahhonig.com/

    Absolutely.

Milt, Milt, Milt. I don’t know if it was Caroline’s speech cadence or what, but it appeared she was in the throes of depression and desperation for the things Obama and Co. have inflicted on the Israeli people.

It came out very clear of the dire choices Israel has in the future without their longtime friend, the US government.

Making matters worse are the Jews in the US who aren’t supporting Israel in numbers they have in past. I don’t know if the generational divide and camaraderie between the American and Israeli Jew is caused by time away or what, but it is there.

Does anyone besides myself and a few foreign policy wonks support Caroline and Israel? Seems to me this is kind of getting like the Establishment Republicans (Brylcreem- a little dab will do ya types) and the Democrats (en masse) merging to hate on the Tea Party.

So much going on; seems history is doomed to repeat itself despite the old sayings after the World Wars- “NEVER AGAIN”.

Thanks.  Not just hard line, but very hard line, noch.

Very true, and it’s something that Mona Charen has commented on in at least one previous episode of Need to Know.  But fear not!  We’ve always got J Street.

Cap’t, I’m not even a Jew so maybe that is why I can’t see the disconnect.

Expanding the thought, why do the Jews support Democrats?

All Jews do not support Democrats. We are as diverse as any other group of people in our opinions regarding anything. There have always been Jews who have betrayed our people since the time of the Maccabees. You know don’t you that when you get 2 Jews together there are 3 opinions? Mine, his, and the other ones. Caroline is not a polished glib speaker as is our pretender, and I have a hard time following her because of my hearing impairment. So I read her, and her column today is priceless. http://carolineglick.com/

When Caroline is on with Frank Gaffney, she also seems a little more upbeat- maybe more comfortable with Frank than Milt. However, I thought Milt really dived into the important topics and was patient till she finished.

I wish the Jews were a little more diverse and not so Democrats.

Actually, you wish the Jews were less diverse and more conservative. I do. At times I would like to shake some of my relatives until their teeth rattle.

  13. swatter

Well, I am one of those conservative Catholics who goes to the traditional service every day. Not the charismatic branch for me.

I could do the same thing.
