From this past weekend’s National Review Institute Summit Meeting, here’s the Night Owl session with Rob Long, Jonah Goldberg, and Mark Steyn. They riff on well, everything. So sit back, plug in the earbuds, and enjoy. We did.

Steyn’s humor is brilliant, it wants me to laugh out loud and go hide under a rock all at once…

  3. Sheila S.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!  I enjoyed listening to this live so very much.  Looking forward to sharing it with my husband this evening.  These guys are so hilarious.

  4. Egg_Shen

    Thanks Yeti.

  5. Cunctator

Thanks Yeti for the link #2.  Is there a podcast format for that morning meeting that can be downloaded onto a mobile phone?

  6. I have to put both links in because non-members don’t see the second one. I don’t know why.

  7. Mendel
Blue Yeti: I have to put both links in because non-members don’t see the second one.

Once upon a time that was considered a feature, not a bug.  Just saying.

  8. BYUSC

Jonah Goldberg led me to Mark Steyn who led me to Rob Long. Glad I found all three.

Which podcast feed will this shop up in?

    Thanks yeti!

    EDIT: Never mind

  10. Peter Meza

Great podcast put had to stop cold at the first question.  More Steyn/Goldberg/Long, less talking audience.  Whatever happened to written (or emailed?) questions from the floor?  ”Mr. X from Y asks ________”.  This eliminates all of the editorializing and self-aggrandizement and uninteresting commentary from the questioners.

  11. Look Away

Fantastic! I will have a smile going for at least a week.

I disagree. Yes, some of the questions were clumsy, inane, or even discomfiting, but that’s what you often get with actual real-live normal human beings.

I quite enjoyed hearing the three, ahem, ”humorists” try to parlay (or should I say, “parley”) thud-worthy questions into something witty or interesting, and (to their credit) they were for the most part able to do so.

  13. Britanicus

Ahh this trio is great. Jonah’s laugh is priceless. This should really be at least a monthly staple of Ricochet. That way, when Rob uses Mark’s name to lure people into the site they will at least get some of him hah.

  14. TheSophist

The oldest boy band in history really needs to get back together more often. I took a flight today, listening to this, and was actually laughing out loud, making the poor woman in the seat next to me wonder what the hell was going on.

    Really good stuff, gents.

  15. Guy Montag

Now that I have had my Goldberg, Steyn and Long fix, I am happier than Larry Craig in an airport bathroom.

  16. skoook

Will there be a podcast of the Q&A ??

  17. Edward Dentzel

How do these three guys not have a show on FoxNews? It would surely be the most popular programming and make Red Eye look like amateur hour.

As for the woman who asked them about her 7 year old son who is a republican among democrats in his elementary school, I would’ve answered her question with a question: what’s your son doing there?

It drives me nuts. We have conservative parents who will some day not allow their kids to go to rock concerts. Won’t allow them to play outside for another half hour. Won’t allow them to stay up late to watch a tv show. Won’t allow them to eat their dessert first. Won’t allow them to drop a swear word once in a while.

But . . . these same parents will march their kids off to public school where their children are molded into good little socialists over the next 11 years. And they’ll do it mindlessly, as if there isn’t another alternative in the world. That school will do more harm to your child than any music, play time, tv show, dessert, or 4-letter word ever could.

  18. EJHill

    YES!

  19. EJHill
GOVICIDE: …what’s your son doing there?

Duh, because he has to be and not everyone can afford private eduation?

Gov, if I send my remaining three school-aged children to a conservative religious school are you going to write the check for me?

  20. Trace

Wondering if Jonah has seen this Thomas Friedman automatic column generator: http://www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/create-your-own-thomas-friedman-op-ed-column

I’m sure he’s not reading this, but maybe someone could send it to him…
