Ricochet is the best place on the internet to discuss the issues of the day, either through commenting on posts or writing your own for our active and dynamic community in a fully moderated environment. In addition, the Ricochet Audio Network offers over 50 original podcasts with new episodes released every day.
This week, GLoPheads Jonah Goldberg, John Podhoretz, and Rob Long discuss the repercussions of the Indiana RFRA act, Rolling Stone’s refusal to take full responsibility after publishing a totally fabricated piece, and make the case as to why nascent Daily Show host Trevor Noah will probably survive his Tweets but may not last long in the host’s chair. Also, a nostalgic look back at New York nightlife in the 70s, and John details a college event that made an indelible impression.

When my daughter was applying to college she complained that she did not have a good enough “back story”. It is true that colleges encourage victim hood.
This podcast offered endless possibilities for graphic representation. Fortunately, most of them are illegal in 43 of the 50 states.
Pizza, anyone?
Is it just me or does Rob Long seem to have Chicken Pox in that picture? Pretty sure I don’t want him handling my pizza.
“a nostalgic look back at New York nightlife in the 70s” is perhaps the greatest euphemistic take on the word “nostalgic” ever written. Now kids will be googling “Plato’s Allegory of the Retreat.”
I find this podcast shocking. Specifically the bit about Plato’s retreat.
I ran an entire role playing campaign where one of the major plot figures was named Alcibiades. I’m shocked to learn I’ve been mispronouncing it all this time.
I am all subscribed up on Stitcher, but don’t get all the podcasts. This one is still not there. Also the SUperfeed on my Android was last updated on 4/2/14. Any fixes out there?

That’s precisely why they didn’t call it Alcibiades’s Retreat. No one would have been able to tell the cabbie where they wanted to go.
They talked about this place called Play-Doh’s Retreat where there were orgies.
What did they do with the Play-Doh?
[Redacted for CoC]
My elementary school must have been designed in the ’60s or ’70s because each group of open classrooms (called pods) had a pit (exactly as John described it) at its center. I think the design was somewhat of a failure–I’ve never heard of a similar layout for a school–and even when I went there in the ’80s, the school was moving away from the open design. I’d never before thought of a pit as a suitable place for an orgy. Gross story, bro.
Didn’t mean for that to happen.
Great music choice, Yeti. I can see the young Jonah in the doorway looking in at the scene as Joe Thomas’s disco classic plays.
Dunkirk 1940. One of the more shameful of Plato’s retreats.
Sometimes it’s important to live and fight another day. (He said philosophically.)
I’ve learned way more about the seedy underbelly of NYC than I ever really wanted to from listening to GLOP. Makes me glad that I live in the hinterlands of the Mississippi delta. Still, these guys are a hoot.
Ah, it didn’t. I typed the redaction myself as it was the funniest answer to your question.
It’s just sauce on his Rob’s face. Or maybe pepperoni.
