I find this podcast shocking. Specifically the bit about Plato’s retreat.
I ran an entire role playing campaign where one of the major plot figures was named Alcibiades. I’m shocked to learn I’ve been mispronouncing it all this time.

My elementary school must have been designed in the ’60s or ’70s because each group of open classrooms (called pods) had a pit (exactly as John described it) at its center. I think the design was somewhat of a failure–I’ve never heard of a similar layout for a school–and even when I went there in the ’80s, the school was moving away from the open design. I’d never before thought of a pit as a suitable place for an orgy. Gross story, bro.

I’ve learned way more about the seedy underbelly of NYC than I ever really wanted to from listening to GLOP. Makes me glad that I live in the hinterlands of the Mississippi delta. Still, these guys are a hoot.
